“Failed attempt at fine dining”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2013

Upon arriving at the restaurant, things looked positive in terms of a great welcome and very pleasant staff. However entering into a fairly empty restaurant with relatively dated feeling furniture, the concerns grew.

The wine available and selected was fantastic, however thats as far as it went.

The restaurant was chosen based on it leaning towards a fine/quality dining experience. The food presentation was ok, however the overall quality of the food was more like going to a standard family friendly restaurant in a shopping mall, which would have been acceptable if the prices reflected that.

For me this was a shame, as i've eatin at many Hilton based restaurants around the world, though mostly through the Middle East, as found that this place fell well off the mark in comparison.

“Slow and Spotty”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2013 via mobile

We shared a bruschetta appetizer, then a Caesar salad, fig and apple salad, and black cod (pan seared). Restaurant was not busy and the service was very slow. Some of the lettuce in the caesar was wilted. Advised server and still charged for it. My entree came out and they forgot to put my wife's order in. They did offer to place the order and would only be 10 minutes or so but who wants to wait. Anyways the food was good but the service and quality control lost a lot of points.

“Buffet Breakfast never had anything for Vegetarians”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2013

A normal 5 start hotel has a few options for Vege-lovers but Vela rarely had any vegetarian food during my stay of 4 nights. It's a shame to pay $25/person for a buffet breakfast and not to get anything which you can eat

“Average place for breakfast”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2013

We went here for breakfast. We were staying at the Hilton hotel at the time. Overall this was a decent breakfast place. The food was good. Service was ok considering the place was packed with people. It's definitely overpriced because of the fact that's it's in a 4 star hotel. I wouldn't make the trip to Vela unless staying at the hotel.

“Good Restaurant”

I was there only for breakfast and I liked the food selection there. Although, sometimes it was overcrowded and I had to wait for coffee longer than 10 minutes.
