Pei Wei in San Diego is a good example of a quality fast food Asian Restaurant; one with table seating, waiter service and a quality menu.
First timers to Pei Wei may be a little in intimidated by the rapidity of order taking and the number of people lining up or already seated at the restaurant. This is an unnecessary concern, because the service is rapid (not rushed) and the turnover is fairly quick.
The menu looks and sounds Asian traditional (coming from several cultures), but with the flavors Pei Wei uses, the dishes seem unique.
Our family favorites (vegetarian) are any of the tofu dishes. The tofu is served sliced rather than chunky, giving a distinctly different appearance and a somewhat different taste when fried.
Sauces, even the "spicy", are not tongue damaging, rather they are an intriguing blend of flavors, successfully bringing out the other components of the meal.
Pricing is fair, quantity of food is good, and value is excellent.
The restaurant being fast food with a high turnover of clients, is typically noisy.
The servers we have had at the San Diego Pei Wei are very courteous, knowledgeable about the selections and seem happy to be working there.
A good fast food Asian restaurant with a distinctly different twist.
