Owner description: A beautiful bridge connecting San Diego to Coronado.
Reviewed November 26, 2013

This bridge is unique in that it's a pillar supported vice suspension (cable) bridge, rising at it's highest (about 65 stories high) unobstructed views of San Diego Downtown skyline (Going Eastbound), or views of Coronado/North Island including the Famous Hotel Del Coronado (Going Westbound). Alongside, you can see on a clear day the city of Tijuana Mexico as well as the Coronado Islands and coastline trailing down to Ensenada. It seems unsafe as there's a "jersey wall" on both sides, but be fully assured, this would deflect any impact and keep a vehicle on the deck rather than in the drink. Frequently used by ad companies for car commercials, it's just that recognizable. Also, it's Paid off in full and TOLL FREE!

It's a fun drive across the bridge and it's free now. Once you drive across you can visit the beach, visit the Del hotel, or grab a bite in downtown which has great restaurants. Coronado is beautiful!

In fact, some days it is closed off...like today, when a suicidal person tried to jump from this gorgeous bridge. Traffic was halted for all the drama because unlike other bridges, this one has scalable walls and no barriers so events like today happen. There are suicide hotlines on the bridge that are worth a picture.

It is worth seeing bridge, when you visit to del mar, you pass through the bridge. It looks stunning and beautiful from harbor and even from airport.

Go inside the hotel and check out the beach. There is a bar close to the beach where you can enjoy a nice drink with a perfect pacific view.
