“Lovely stay!”
Reviewed May 13, 2018 for a stay in May 2018

I can't say enough good things about this place and the hosts. First of all, our request to book was less than 48 hours notice due to an emergency cancellation from the original place we had booked a month prior. The owner was quick to respond and very understanding of our situation. The check in manager, Molly, was simply wonderful. She gave a full walk thru of the boat. It was stocked with bagels, cream cheese, coffee, half and half and even a cold bottle of champagne. The house boat itself was so charming and spacious (there were three adults in separate rooms). The views were beautiful and ocean breeze kept us nice and cool. It's close to so many great places to visit or eat. I was a little worried it might feel like staying in a camper. No such thing. You can't feel any movement on the boat and the bathrooms and kitchen are like normal and the place is huge. Wow! Such a cool experience. I will be back for sure.

LOOK NO FURTHER!! Having stayed in many hotels in San Diego and visited many more as a previous local travel agent, I would pick this houseboat over any of them!! Start with location - it's incredibly convenient to the airport without feeling like you're at the airport. It's close to downtown, the Gas Lamp, Little Italy, and Point Loma. The marina is beautiful and there are views of water and masts of sailboats from every window. Value - I challenge you to find a comparable standard hotel room for the same price that is anywhere near what you get on this houseboat. It's an excellent value. We stayed in July and any hotel in the area would have cost us at least as much...most of them were in the $350/nt range. And for that we would have gotten one room taken up by a bed, with 1 bath. That takes us to... The Accommodations - this place is ROOMY. You have 2 full bedrooms and a 3rd room upstairs that could easily convert to a 3rd. The master bedroom and en suite bathroom are as large as most hotel rooms. PLUS you get a full kitchen with a dining area and living area. Everything is spotless. There is plenty of closet and drawer space. There's also a lot of counter space available in the kitchen if you choose to cook. The Amenities - first, did I mention the location? It's got to go on this list too. The houseboat is moored so any 'rocking motion' is limited but you can feel it and between that and the ocean breeze, you're going to sleep like a baby in the very comfortable beds. The furniture is nice, clean and not the usual 'cast offs' found in many B&Bs and rental properties. Same with the dishes, utensils, towels, etc. David & Stephanie provide everything you can think of from towels, to extra sheets, pillows, etc. They made sure we had a nice supply of coffee and bagels to start our first day, along with a few other snacks. Don't be put off that there's no air conditioning. You don't need it. There is a constant breeze and it flows through beautifully with just the open windows. It's a short walk to the marina pool if you don't feel like driving to one of the beaches. And there are canvas chairs you can sit out on the dock (pier/quay?) and listen to the sea gulls, laugh at the herons walking by, and watch the sun go down. Oh - and a free kayak, which we didn't use because we're chickens, but it's there and with all the safety equipment. The WiFi connection is secure and really good. It supported all of our devices (I think we had 6 at any given time) at a great speed. And for anyone who still watches tv on the tv, they have 3 of them - with Dish Network and a great array of regular and premium channels....
