“Great location, great amenities, bad timing”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

This is a very nice hotel and in a very convenient location. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly except for a couple of things:

1) Parking can be a real pain around this area. If you go on a weekend, street/metered parking is free after 6pm (I think) and on Sunday it is free all day. Fortunately, we arrived on a late Saturday afternoon and left on Sunday so it worked out perfectly. The other initial concern was that I noticed a significant amount of vagrancy in this area so I was worried about my car getting broken into (in addition to some drunk college kid smashing a window - see #2). The front desk assured us it would be fine though, and it was.

2) If you stay here, research what events are going on in the area ahead of time. I'll use Halloween weekend as an example. There's this huge event in the Gaslamp Quarter that they put on every year called "Monster Bash" - it's basically a block party where a majority of the clientele are the stereotypical pre-drunk SDSU students (It was somewhat amusing while we were getting food at Smashburger, seeing a bunch of drunk college kids dressed up in costumes looking like idiots!)
Thing is, this last year they had it on the same block as where this hotel is located. Literally, two huge soundstages with the light effects and everything within a 500ft of the hotel. If you're looking for a little peace and quiet, you won't find it here on that weekend for sure. Unless you can tune out 6 hours of droning and blaring music.

Other than that, the room we were in was very nice and very spacious (it was more like a suite that we got upgraded to). Location is definitely a plus if you're looking to relax and walk around the Gaslamp and down to Seaport Village. Will I be back? Quite possibly, but not during Halloween weekend!

Front desk personnel were courtious and helpful. Stayed one night in a king room on the 4th floor. Room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Hotel is located very close to the stadium, bars and restaurants. Only bad thing was valet parking was $39 a night. Great hotel!

We came to San Diego for my brother's bachelor party. We had a group of eighteen guys, most of whom waited until the last second to book a room. Upon arrival, we were all very impressed. The hotel is modern, clean and up-to-date. The welcoming crew was delightful. The hotel gave us a great rate for all of the rooms. Every single guy commented about how he would stay here again, and bring his significant other.

The hotel made me look great since I had done all of the planning. It was quiet, clean and had great access to everything in the Gaslamp Quarter. I highly recommend.

Just came back from a 3 night stay at the Hotel Indigo. Great, quiet location in the Gaslamp Quarter. A 5+ minute walk to the convention center ... easy access to 5th street restaurants and shops. The room was cheery and sunny with the option to open the window for fresh air. The rooftop bar is gorgeous with fire pits and heating elements for cool evenings. My dogs would have been jealous to know that I attended dog night at the bar. There were more dogs than people socializing al fresco in the beautiful SD weather. It was hilarious - although it seemed that the dog owners took it quite for granted!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights, it is located close to some great places to eat, the harbor and downtown. The rooms were exceptionally clean, open and inviting. The food in the hotel was great as well. The best part was that we were able to bring our dogs, everyone in the hotel was accommodating to the dogs and the front desk staff was super friendly towards the dogs.

We stayed at the Indigo over New Year to visit family in San Diego. It's a great location right next to the Gaslight district. Our room was on the 8th floor and had a great view on the baseball stadium, unfortunately there was no match at the time, but I imagine it would be cool.
More important was the room itself. It had a good size, nicely decorated and big walk-in shower. The only thing I was missing was a mini-bar.
Overall i can highly recommend the hotel for anyone staying downtown San Diego.

The hotel is on the periphery of the Gaslamp Quarter in a quiet setting, a short walk from the bustle and delights of Fifth Avenue. A lot of thought must have gone into the design because the rooms are spacious and airy due to a clever arrangement of the closet and bathroom. The furniture, fittings and decor are excellent. The staff are thoroughly efficient and very helpful. My experience was dampened slightly by sloppy housekeeping: small scraps of paper on the floor persisted for several days and the bathroom counter was clearly not wiped down everyday, even on one day when it needed to be.
