My wife and I booked this room for just $99/night for a Friday and Saturday. The hotel is clean, and very conveniently located next to I-5. I was somewhat concerned that the hotel's close proximity to the freeway make for a noisy stay. However, the hotel must be well insulated because we had a very peaceful room.

The beds are super comfortable. The included continental breakfast is on par with other hotels of this class. The hotel is located just a mile from the entrance to Del Mar beach and a short drive to La Jolla. Downtown is an easy (at least during the weekend) 15-20 minute drive away.

The few downsides are.. the bathroom was clean but could use an update. There was absolutely no counter space in the bathroom. The TV is an older CRT model with just a handful of channels. Parking spaces in the parking garage are definitely not designed for larger vehicles. We had fun squeezing my wife's small car into the spots -- would have hated to try to park our Jeep in there.

One of the newer Hamptons, and as usual, nicely appointed and modern. Staff was great, Location was convenient as it's right off I-5. Parking was plentiful, and internet was fast and free. Beds were comfortable,( I only wish they would upgrade to queens, as doubles are a little small.) All in all, a nice stay. Plenty of restaurants and stores nearby in a safe area.

I have been meaning to write this review for a month now... what a great hotel! The rooms are nothing special, but comfortable, if not smallish. Pool outside was small but perfect for the kids to splash around and heated (cool but not cold)! The breakfast buffet is fantastic, and it is INCLUDED!!!! It changes a little every day so fun and tasty. The hotel is in a great neighborhood, yet right next to the freeways which you won't hear. Del Mar is a great area, take a walk around! We asked to be in the wing that is AWAY from the AM/PM gas station behind, which btw is convenient if you need to do a beer run or whatever. There are several shopping/restaurant areas nearby, a couple nights we just picked up sandwiches. The staff are really fantastic and helpful, and most important they are LAID BACK. It's like they just want your day to go well and will give you no hassles about anything. We brought in a bottle of wine to the the main dining area one evening to enjoy a TV movie, no biggie. The housekeeping gals are great, be sure to tip them and give the breakfast gals a couple buck too. I cannot recommend this hotel enough: value, close to everything (just 10 minutes north of SD), great access to Del Mar beach/coastline/shopping, etc. We took their recommendation to go to Jakes in Del Mar, an upscale place on the water, so here is what you do: Arrive after 8pm when the parking meters on the street are free. Don't need a reservation, you can sit at their bar tables. Order kids meals for your kids (great kids menu) and then get yourself an appetizer or small entree. Be sure to order the house dessert, a delicious ice cream chocolate gudge mess, but huge enough for the whole table. We fed everyone, including beer and margarita for dad and mom for less than $100, at a really upscale but casual place on the ocean! Great memories from this trip... thanks Hampton Del Mar!!!

We had a very pleasant time here, but since it's San Diego, we didn't spend much time in our room. Please be advised that this is not a destination resort, so don't expect a giant pool, ocean views or room service. But if you want a newer, clean, super comfortable place to sleep and unwind, this is the hotel for you. The bedroom and bathroom are spacious, quiet, modern and clean. The king size bed was super comfortable, and there was a large flat screen, plasma tv. The breakfast buffet had many choices of muffins, cereal, eggs, toast, bagels, etc. There is a small pool and a decent fitness center. The open, centrally located lobby is next to a fast elevator (no steps). The staff was very helpful, pleasant, and accommodating. The hotel has a few turns to access to the freeway, but it really wasn't a problem. And the parking lot is user friendly, with extra parking underground. Everything about this hotel is convenient, clean, comfortable and user friendly. We'll be back.

Two recommendations. Our room was facing the pool, but we heard no pool noise because no one was swimming during the colder weather. I would ask for a room situated further from the pool if you are planning on coming during the summer months. Also, I would ask for a room not facing the freeway. I don't know how much freeway noise there actually is. but better to be safe than sorry.

We recently stayed at this hotel, it was very conveniently located - on some of the reviews some ppl complained about the noise (being so close to the highway) we slept with our windows open and it did not disturb us at all.
This hotel was great value , the hot breakfast was a refreshing change from most other hotels continental breakfast , fruit and coffee all day long in the breakfast lounge area (someone on another review complained the coffee was not always warm, well...they DO have a microwave in the coffee area...)
Going by another comment that the breakfast area was tiny - no it was not. There was ample space.
They also have a sofa, coffee table and television set in the lounge area where you could enjoy your own bottle of champagne and snacks before heading out for the evening - or for winding down after the day out.
My only slight 'complaint' is that the heated pool was not really heated, but more tepid. That in itself was not an issue either.
The rooms were perfectly fine and comfortable.
Great stay, great value for money. We were satisfied and would definitely stay there again
Its literally 5 mins to the beach, and downtown Del mar.
PS parking was ample, another reviewer mentioned that the parking was tight. You might have a problem finding a spot on returning from an evening out, however they DO have overflow gated parking with card control access at the lower level which goes directly to the elevators and up to your room, which is adequate.

I was worried that the Hampton Inn would have a lot of street noise. The hotel is located near a busy street and close to the freeway. Yet, I did not have any issues with traffic noises all night. The hotel has excellent insulation.

There is a lack of restaurants in the area. There is a AM/PM next door, a Taco Bell and a sit down Mexican Restaurant-Tio Leo. You have to get in the car and drive a couple of miles to get to food.

Check in was a breeze. The hotel staff were very friendly. The fitness center was adequate. The breakfast room was OK for someone in a hurry. Good selection of cereals and muffins, but nothing substantial (coffee was good).

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The Hampton Inn was up to par with the Hilton brand standards. The bathroom was also clean. The room had free high speed internet. I did not use the WIFI since they had a CAT-5 cable in the room. The desk was spacious enough for work. Also, the coffee table and couch was a great addition in the room.

All-in-all, I would stay here again.

The Hampton Inn/Del Mar was our spot to stay for four nights. I am very particular about clean bedding, baths and rooms in general and our room at the Hampton Inn passed my inspection. The complimentary coffee and breakfast was very adequate for families and seniors and it was served in such a bright sunny atmosphere! I would highly recommend the Hampton Inn to anyone looking for clean rooms, super comfy beds, affordable, close to shopping, beach, restaurants and a grocery store.
Looking forward to returning,
