Needing a break from the frozen tundra, we headed west to San Diego. We stayed at Paradise Point Resort & Spa for 5 nights and loved it.

This tropical island resort offers a variety of activities…so many that we didn’t get a chance to do all of them in our short stay…5 pools, a beautiful sandy beach, lawn games, volleyball, and even a full-service marina offering water activities.

Our garden bungalow was very private and only a few steps away from the breathtaking views of the bay. I enjoyed relaxing on the patio after a long day…very peaceful admist the lush tropical gardens. The rooms were luxurious, comfortable, and kept very clean.
The staff was always very helpful and polite.

Conveniently located within minutes of many San Diego attractions including Old Town, Sea World, and the Zoo. This is a wonderful place for couples and families. I am excited to return soon!

Nicely remodeled but the tile floors need throw rugs because they are ice cold. Hard to believe that a hotel of this cost doesn't even give you a micro wave or coffee maker.Great location wonderful lay out.
The heater/air conditioner made so much noise we had to have it off during cold weather when trying to sleep.

We have stayed here many times and enjoy it. The last time we scored an amazing room rate (usually $200+ a night, was only $99) and I noticed a few changes... no coffee in the room, less amenities, overall not as high-end. Perhaps with the economy in the current state they are trying to appeal to larger crowd.

The rooms are a bit outdated but comfortable.

The restaurants are fun especially in the summer months when there is live music (I heard they cut the live music last summer because of the economy.)

Love movie night by the pool.

Love feeding the ducks.

Enjoyed the Fine Dinning restaurant.

Can get VERY crowded especially on Holiday weekends and beware of the jellyfish!

The Bayside rooms are the best.

My friends and I stayed at this resort for Thanksgiving last year. We had the garden-view room. The room was renovated nicely - nice hard wood floors and nice beds. Our "private" garden was amazing. However, some parts of the room still showed how old/run-down the room used to be. The walls and the bar/counter area were dated. The microwave and the fridge were a joke (but at least we got to use them for free).

The bathroom was the least satisfactory. The bathroom had an open sink area with a closed shower/toilet area. The sink area wasn't too bad - it was bright - but the floor tiles felt dirty. The shower/toilet area was very problematic because it was VERY small. The water in our toilet kept running.

The trade-off for a room like this is that you do get bugs inside. We saw some interesting insects and a few spiders...!

All the renovations were done INSIDE the rooms - meaning the exterior of each room still looks like public washrooms you see in any parks.

BUT - make sure you visit their ballroom area. Man, that was one of the NICEST ballrooms I've ever seen! It was very pretty and beautifully decorated. Only if the rooms were like that...

Definitely over-priced. I'd say it's a 3-star resort that should only cost $90/night, including parking.

Setting is beautiful but the accomodation was average to run down down. The suite reeked of mold and mildue. When requests were made for disability accomodation we were completely ignored. The parking is a hidden 25.00 per day more, the internet no wireless was 10.00 per day.The site is set on 40.00 acres which is lovely but the gardeners have saws going non stop from early in the morning all day.And the jacuzzi whoch I desperately needed to use was broken.
The setting is top notch and many of the waitress's and spa staff were very sweet and accomodating.

Two words: tourist trap. The decor is reminiscent of Disney World's Polynesian Village. Gag. Horrible customer service. Check-in took forever. There was a wedding party in front of us trying to check in. The bride-to-be was frantic. The front desk service did not seem to care. There is no disclosure of the parking fees, which are about $20/day. A 'valet' in a golf cart will insist on escorting you to your "cabin". Let him, because otherwise you will never find your room. The layout is confusing and there is NO signage. But be prepared to tip this guy. Although we reserved a double room ,we got a Queen bed with a pull-out sofa. When we complained to management, they rudely told us that because we made the reservation via a "discount site" (Priceline) they did not guarantee the "type" of room, only that it could "sleep two". The location was not convenient to any other areas of San Diego, either. Don't waste your time or your money here.

We recently stayed with our 3 kids. we stayed in a brand new room on the bay and it was out of this world/ i felt like we were in Hawaii at a fraction of the cost. The service was first class and we will return very soon.
