“Very nice setting, many activities, rooms and service not good enough!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2014

Although the setting is very nice, specially the Bungalows facing the beach, the service is totally mediocre and the rooms are a bit outdated and not as shown on the website.
Specially for the prices charged, the value is not good.

The many activities and great location compensates for that and we had a great time!

The manager is very kind. After we complaint about the housekeeping and service he made sure that our stay was better.

Thank you for the review of Paradise Point. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed our array of activities, unique location and bayfront bungalows. We’re sorry to hear there were a few aspects of your stay that did not quite live up to your expectations, and we appreciate you bringing them to our attention during your stay. This allowed us to resolve the issues in a timely manner, allowing you to enjoy the many activities our island offers. We hope that our unbeatable location in the heart of San Diego brings you back for another tropical vacation in the future.

Best,

My family and I went to Paradise Point in San Diego over Spring Break. Our son years 13 years old and I wish I had discovered this place years ago when he was younger. We had the best local vacation. Everything was wonderful about this place. There are five pools located around the resort. There are so many activities right on the property: biking, segway-ing, swimming, surfing, kayaaking, boating, saliling, the list goes on and on. The restauants are fabulous and convenient. We didn't even have to leave the property. The rooms are spacious, but could use a little modernization. We felt safe and comfortable. The staff was friendly, conscientious and efficient. We had a slight problem wit our room and reported it to the front desk. The supervisor, Jilian, immediately took action upgrading us to a suite and handling all of the moving transactions so as not to inconvenience us. She even sent us a box of delicious candy brittle and a personalized card. The restuarants are really good and they all provide a bay view. We had dinner one night at Tidal, the gourmet restauant and the food was amazing. Our server, Ruben, was outstanding providing us with a very knowlegable overview of the menu. He was efficient, without making us feel pressured to leave. It was a great dining experince and this vacation was one of the best. We look forward to returning in May.

Room Tip: The rooms need some sound proofing so be sure to get a room away from the noisier locations such as...

Paradise Pointe was a great place to relax for a few days and get away from it all. But, there were activities available for all ages, such as walking around the 44 acre property, bike rental, pedal a surrey, or gather around a fire pit outside your bungalow at night. We were impressed with Marc, who took us to our unit on a golf cart and showed us where the restaurants and pools were located and told us that if were lost, look for the flag to get back to the main building.

Caveman Pizza was underground and Prather, the man behind the counter, was friendly, checked on us between his making pizzas and made a really great pizza. On the other end of the spectrum, the Tidal restaurant was opened a couple of weeks before we arrived, was somewhat eclectic with towels instead of napkins, high ceiling, and one side was floor to ceiling windows and had plenty of space between tables. Some of the chairs looked ultra modern.. Melissa was a great waitress who could describe every meal and was attentive to removing empty platters and refilling glasses and cups. To get back to our unit, Rick took us back in a Hummer golf cart..

I try not to find fault unless truly deserved but try to find people doing their job well and then tell them how good they were. I also write down their names so I can tell their supervisor. At Paradise Point, my wife and I could not find fault with anything.

Room Tip: Try to get a bungalow by the water. You have a serene view and firepits you can use.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in a bay view bungalow. The room was very clean and spacious. We rented bikes twice as we enjoyed the trails around the island. We took advantage of 4 of the 5 pools as one is adult only. Mini golf was a lot of fun for my family. We enjoyed a s'mores bonfire on the beach, which was a unique treat to this vacation. The grounds are so beautiful it really felt like paradise. The food in both restaurants was delicious however extremely over priced. A simple breakfast for 2 kids and 2 adults was over 110.00. I would recommend this hotel for San Diego. (We now know we could have gone to an all inclusive in the Caribbean for cheaper than this trip so we won't return or recommend this destination to our friends and neighbors)

My husband and I wanted something local with a resort feel for our baby moon and we got just that on Paradise point. Although I really wish it would have been a lot warmer, this place is deff a place to visit during the warmer months. The grounds are spectacular, lush green everywhere. Sadly we didn’t get to enjoy any of the pools because the weather didn’t cooperate. We ate at Barefoot Bar and grill for lunch the prices are reasonable ( suppose I’m used to L.A prices) the wait staff was great, very informative. We also had delicious pizza from Caveman Pizza.. the staff again was super friendly and accommodating. Mission beach is literally less than 10 mins away, fun stuff to do like rock climbing, arcades etc. At night we were able to roast s’mores by the beach in our very own pit, it literally felt like our private backyard. Yes the rooms are not resort style and paying for parking sucks, especially when the parking spots are super tight not much room for larger vehicles. The rooms facing the bay were pretty pricey almost didn't feel worth it because of the cold weather, but again that's not the resorts fault. Overall the experience was great .. we plan to go back when It gets hotter so we can really take advantage of the jet skiing and tanning in “our backyard.”

This is a really unique resort. It's very secluded on it's own little penninsula. For the first night, our room was not great--it was a very basic room, which was fine and what we paid for, but it definitely smelled like smoke, which is something I can't tolerate. So the next morning we went and talked to them and they had an opening in what they called their "honeymoon suite" (we were on our honeymoon), so they upgraded us for free for our last two nights. And that room was AMAZING. It was a huge room with a fireplace and a beautiful view onto the bay. It was an even better view at night. There were big double doors that opened on to a patio. The bathroom had a big jetted tub, too.
With the resort in general, we really liked the restaurant (not the fancy one, we didn't try that one) for breakfast and dinner. And there are multiple pools on the property so that was cool. We also liked how there was a fire pit on the sand right outside of our room.

We really enjoyed our stay at Paradise Point. The beach bungalows are pricey, but an amazing place to really kick back with your family. I wish we had booked a longer stay.

We had fun hanging out at the pool with a friend and her son in the afternoon, then retreated to our room and watched the kids play on the beach in front of our room. The Barefoot Bar and Grill was perfect for an outdoor family dinner with young children, as there was a lot for the children to look at and space for them to roam.

I would definitely return for a longer stay.

Room Tip: Get a beach bungalow!
