“Simply Wonderful!”
Reviewed October 30, 2013

We were treated like like very special guests from the moment Judy checked us in.
When we mentioned that we were meeting another couple for a joint celebration (an anniversary for them and and a birthday for us) she upgraded us to a Bayside Bungalow, and she had already done the same for our friends. My wife and I both remarked on how lovely the suite was, and our friends had the same reaction. The location is gorgeous, and to be able to walk out our door to the pristinely maintained beach was a real treat!
It was so much fun to walk down the beach and knock on our friends' door, and I highly recommend purchasing some firewood from the shop and spending the evening by a roaring blaze in one of the beachside fire pits. So relaxing!
There are several beautiful pools, including one that's 'adults only' if you're looking for a little romantic peace and quiet.
The food and the service are excellent anywhere you choose to dine on this beautiful resort, and when we finally had to leave we felt as if we had truly spent time away at a tropical paradise. All of the staff members we met were gracious, welcoming and helpful.
The very first night, the four of us decided that this getaway will be an annual event, and we'll be back sooner if we can.
We also recommend taking the short drive or cab up to La Jolla for some superb dining options and a remarkable view that reminded us both of our anniversary in Hawaii.
Paradise Point is a truly special place!

We just reluctantly returned home from 4 days at Paradise Point. We would not have stayed there if it was not for a family wedding, but are so glad we did! It is more pricey than we generally pay, but found that everything we could want to do was right there on the island. The pools are so lovely, the beach was clean and uncrowded. A bonfire on the beach at night roasting marshmallows was actually the highlight memory! The rooms are very beautiful, and we had a lagoon view room, so sitting out back in the comfortable chairs was such a getaway from the business of our family event. Eating on the island is not cheap, so we stocked our fridge and had breakfast and snacks in room. Bring making for s'mores yourself, because they are pricey in the store, but worth it. At night there are lights and fires everywhere, and so romantic and exotic. We have visited SanDiego before, but have never had such a feeling of an exotic escape as we did at Paradise Point. I hope we get to return. We had so many events related to the wedding we attended that we did not have a chance to rent a sail boat, or bikes as we hoped. Plan in that time, but make sure you plan a lot of unplanned time, to just sit and soak it in. Pay attention to the amazing plants, as the landscaping is incredible.
I have to say that the bed was a bit too firm for me, and the towels in the bathroom were very rough. but those were the only things I could possibly complain about, as the staff is all friendly and warm meeting any needs quickly, the location amazing, and the memories are so many that we will treasure!

Room Tip: lagoon side was perfect, though I thought I would prefer beach side. Even being a few more steps awa...

I have stayed at Paradise Point since 2000. I have been there 3 times in the past 10 months which includes organizing a family reunion there in February. I have NEVER had such poor service! I waited 4 hours for a call back that should have been an immediate call back. I was made to go back to the front desk to provide a credit card....the same one provided at check in. I also had never had to prepay the room with no cancellation policy.....that reeks of cheap, low budget facility tactics. As far as the room goes, I gave a poor rating because of the location...I liked Paradise Point for the privacy the bungalows provide-a semi-private patio. The only room they would give me on this trip opened to a lagoon that was wide open to the other rooms...if we sat on our patio, we might as well have been at the pool....we had all the other room occupants right there in a circle. It's sad my favorite place in the USA has gone to crap! I guess all good things must end!

TW, thank you for your review and continued patronage of our San Diego resort. We deeply regret and apologize for the disappointment in your latest visit. As you know from your previous stays, the issues you encountered are incongruous with the type of quality experience we typically deliver. On Our Recent Stay At Paradise Point We Had A Really Bad Experience. We Spent Lots Of Money Getting A Beach Side Room That Proved To Be A Waist Of Money. As Soon As We Got To The Room there Was A Smell And The Room WAs Dirty. The Pull Out Bed Hurt Our Backs And The Power Didn't Even Work In The Room. The Room Was Run Down And Needed A Renovation. When Complained To The Front Desk Manager He Said Someone Would clean It And Would Give Us A Cushon For The Pull Out Bed..He Forgot...Really Acted Like He Didn't Care...The End. We Won't Ever Go Back.

The property is beautiful and the staff is exceptional. Especially Amberly, Marc, and Mark. The gracious hospitality that was shown to us was over the top. We felt like we were the only ones there and that is when the resort was full! We were there at the end of September celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary and felt like everyone was celebrating too. Our room was clean, relaxing, and comfortable. The pool we visited was also clean, relaxing, and comfortable. The food was excellent everywhere we went. Paradise Point is the perfect place for anyone who needs to "get away from it all". We will definitely visit again and highly recommend Paradise Point!

We have been vacationing at Paradise Point for many years. We have spent time there both as young people ourselves and now with our own children and it never fails to exceed expectations! Location, Location, Location!
The grounds are always well groomed, beautiful and the staff is helpful. The sand and the Bay are clean and not over crowded. If you book a room on the water either as a single, a couple or with children, there is little reason to leave the property for anything!

The Bayside studio suites are a "must have" favorite. There are very few hotels right on the water that offer this kind of bungalow/room. Aside from renting a private beach house, we haven't been able to find anything like this anywhere.
This was our first visit back since the decor and campus was been upgraded/changed a few years ago and although it is now more "modern" instead of classic beach house style, everything was nicely done inside the room and very comfortable.

It was also the first trip that we have needed to reserve two attached rooms on the beach. This was a birthday adventure for one of our teens and we were concerned because initially the front desk wasn't sure that they could guarantee the attached room configuration which was a must have with underage children. We also asked to be situated close to one of the firepits which we have never requested before.(Most of the firepits are spaced well enough along the beach to be convenient to any of the beachfront rooms.)

It was a busy weekend, but the staff made sure that our rooms were in the perfect location & the firepit was right in front of our room!!

The hotel has added more family friendly dining options on site and although we were initially surprised by the mandatory ++ parking fee and "passport" fee, we discovered (too late!) that the mandatory passport includes a free family pizza dinner + salad etc... at the new pizza restaurant which is open after 5pm.

My suggestion to anyone is to CALL the hotel directly when making reservations. This is not an inexpensive vacation spot, but there are several different types of rooms in different areas and the overall hotel experience cannot be beat!

Well done AGAIN Paradise Point! We will be back soon!
Thank you!

Room Tip: Choose a beachfront room & call the hotel directly to book your reservation and ask questions, i...

Hotel was on the older side, I was a little nervous when we were shown to our room. However, the room was clean, the air conditioner worked well. The bathroom is a little outdated, the shower is in a bathtub, but the grounds were beautiful. We were attending a convention there, so it was convenient. The weather was perfect, I really enjoyed my morning runs on the little beach with spectacular views of the city across the water. The main pool was very nice and enjoyable as well.
