This is a really old property that they have done a great job of maintaining. Definitely not your typical hotel stay. The grounds are lush and expansive and they have multiple pools and restaurants on site, as well as a little mini-mart / gift shop. The restaurants are all directly on the water - beautiful. The food served was very good and ranged from casual to fine dining.

All of the rooms are on the ground floor and in separate buildings, so you drive (or take a golf cart) directly to the small building you are staying in. From what I saw, they all had semi-private patios. Our room was about a 40 step walk from the sand. The rooms are old, but clean and updated with flat screen TV's and modern furniture.

Great central location makes this a perfect place to do sight-seeing.

Was here last week for a meeting. Have stayed here previously but found it rehabbed and much better. Rooms are old but clean. Outlets are the biggest problem-not enough and bad locations. That said it was clean, staff was very polite and food service was fabulous. Weather was chilly so didn't visit the pools. Very handy to be able to walk to Sea World- not much else close. Would stay here again.

This is the perfect location for seeing San Diego. And it's a great place to just hang out at! The four person bikes were way more fun than I expected. The pool was great. 85 degree pool felt great. I found this to be a super relaxing place to stay.

This resort is truly awesome. I can't tell you how much I hate staying in high rise hotels. The Paradise Point is spread out over many acres and the rooms are all single story and separate from one another. The Paradise Point reminds me of hotels of the past - comfortable, relaxing, with a bell staff that is second to none in making sure that whatever issue you have is taken care of ASAP. The grounds are absolutely the best, with a large portion fronting the bay, and lots of beach to walkupon. I have stayed here before and I will stay here again. The restaurants are excellent and serve great food. I am very glad that this resort pays attention to the things that matter; a good environment and orientation towards the guest. Not like the vast majority of other hotels where you are just a number and their goal is to empty your pockets. Sure, you pay a little more (not much!) to stay at the Paradise Point but it is WELL WORTH IT, especially if you have a stressful job and really need to get away from it all and relax.

Room Tip: Try to get one of the suites that fronts the bay. These rooms are large and you walk right on out t...

We were at Paradise Point last week and highly recommend it! It is such a unique property and everything is self contained. We read the reviews prior to booking the stay and I do not quite understand the negative comments about the distance to the lobby, it is a beautiful walk. I would rather have that walk than hotel hallways and elevators. I will admit at first blush I thought the parking fee was high also but you are parking right outside your door. That has a value when you are loading and unloading luggage and supplies. The Barefoot restaurant has good food, better service and a beautiful location inside and out. The Baleen has an incredible menu, food matches and again better service. I was floating in the pool and could not think of a hotel/resort/restaurant that could match their service. That includes every 4&5 star location we have been to in the last 2 plus years. Worth going to just to have such enjoyable service!

Nice but old hotel, perfect for families with sandy beaches all around the tiny island, several swimming pools, close to Sea World etc. The service was great, all the staff were very friendly.

I stayed in a bungalow with a great view of the beach. Rooms were fine and spacious but as I said, old. The wallpaper and floors were frayed, half of the electric sockets didn't work, the hairdryer didn't work, the floor was ice cold so I needed to blast on the heater all day and night which made a terrible noise I felt like I had time-traveled back to the early 80's. There were a couple of spiders in the bathroom, and the cleaning was so-so. The wifi almost never worked in the room, just occasionally in the lobby. But the bed was comfortable and I slept like a baby!

One thing to know about Paradise Point is that it's located on an island - you can't just walk to a nearby Starbucks or anything. It is a bit off. Only two restaurants on the island and the one open during the day was almost always fully booked. I was there on a conference and the restaurants couldn't handle the 1000 breakfast-hungry guests so most had to wait in line at the coffee bar in the lobby for 30-40 minutes just to get a muffin. Fridge was available in the room but there was nothing edible to buy in the gift shop.

Beautiful view over the marina, and water everywhere you looked. The view definitely made up for the old, 80's style feeling of the buildings.

We appreciate the honest feedback on your February stay with us. We are glad to hear you found our island to be an inspiring, comfortable setting during your meeting, but apologize that a few components of your guestroom were not up to par. Our five on-site dining venues can get busy when we have very large conferences, however in-room dining or snacks from our Island Market are convenient alternatives. For beautiful bay views while dining, we suggest trying our signature restaurant Baleen upon your next visit. Whether it is business or pleasure that brings you back to San Diego, we hope you will join us for another stay at our island resort.

Best,
David Hall, General Manager

This resort exceeded our expectations! We will definitely be back when visiting the San Diego area. The close proximity to Sea World, old town San Diego, and the beach make this a great vacation spot! Our family spent a week at this resort and our kids loved everything about it. The parking fee is the only downside. At $32.00 a day it can add up pretty fast. Other than that we enjoyed our stay and can't wait to come back for another visit!

Room Tip: I would recommend a lanai king premium room when staying with the family.
