“Fabulous location and pool”
Reviewed January 20, 2010

This is a fabulous hotel in a great location. The pool area is really well designed and kitted out.
The rooms are spacious and trendy. Watch out for the antequated hairdryer. It looks like someone stole it from 'Grease'. I could have blown on my hair quicker! I really didn't understand that. Lovely trendy modern rooms and then a hairdryer from the 1950's that has the gentle hum of a mild breeze! The reception were unable to assist and I had to trail along to the Spa to dry my hair in the changing rooms.
That aside this is a large hotel and has a very business feel to it. It felt very impersonal.
The rooms were reasonalbly priced but we were in a tower block opposite the main hotel which looked like a cheap block of flats from the outside. One side of this block overlooks the main road and could be noisy.
We enjoyed our stay but I might feel differently if our stay had been any longer.

My wife and I stayed here for an extended holiday visit to my family and we had an enjoyable stay. The room was comfortable and the pool area was great. The hotel also has a small gym, which was nice. Although the hotel is not convenient if you want to go out downtown (or anywhere, really, without a car), it's a nice place to stay. Parking is a joke at $25 a day - but San Diego thinks it's a big city and most hotels these days charge outrageous parking fees. The city colludes with the hotel by not allowing parking on the bay between the hours and 2 and 4 am. Aside from the parking and somewhat isolated hotel (if you're accustomed to city living and public transportation), we had no complaints. The hotel even has a really good happy hour. The pool area can be loud with children, and we never found a quiet place to escape the playing.

After a poor stay in a Las Vegas hotel when we arrived at this hotel i thought i had fallen into paradise. The weather helped it was glorious, within a short time of arriving we were by the pool relaxing. The pool area is well layed out and there is an adjacent area to sit with a small man made stream stocked with koi and ducks. Even when the sun went down you can sit by a fire pit and keep warm. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was very nice and clean with balconey. The food in the restaurant was delightful and very well presented. Free internet in the lobby could be extendid to the rooms and maybe the parking fee is a bit steep when its not secure but these are the only downsides.Sea World is only 2 miles away. We could only stay for 2 nights before flying home but i would love to return sometime for a longer stay and be able to visit more of the surrounding area.

This was a nice enough hotel, but everything was expensive (parking, coffee, food, amenities, etc). Renovations were nice, but still seemed a bit "tired" (popcorn ceilings, very small bathroom, noisy toilets). The grounds were beautiful (on Mission Bay) and the location was very convenient.

Great 4 Star Service from the moment we arrived Christmas Week. Loved the location, within yards of sand & water. Easy commute to Sea World & Ocean! There really wasn't anything we didn't like except the per day $25 Parking Fee! We knew about the fee going in, and was the only downfall of this resort for us. Rooms were nice with a welcome feel. The heated pool had a great layout and looked out to the bay. The Staff was very professional, curteous and made you feel welcome. I loved the Free Internet in the lobby as i'm used to paying for it in the room. This was our 1st Trip to San Diego & Overall our experience was a 9 out of 10 with the parking fee the only downfall.

I got this hotel on Priceline for $90 per night. After getting the room and reading the reviews I was a little concerned about how old the hotel would be. We were pleasantly surprised upon arrival. We got a villa, a huge room with two queen beds and a full living room with a patio overlooking Mission Bay. There was a large bathroom, a fridge & coffee maker. We couldn't have asked for more for $90. The property itself was surrounded by a park which made for easy exercise or a leisurely stoll in the morning or at sunset. The fitness center had newer equipment and was open before the stated hours of 6 am. The pool area was nice, however, it was a bit chilly during our time there, so we did not actually swim. Aqua (the restaurant) was a nice atmosphere, but a bit on the pricey side. The only downfall was the $25 per night parking fee. That is a bit ridiculous considering the hotel is the only place in the area and has plenty of parking. Given how many cars were in the lot each night (Tues-Fri) they must make most of their profits on parking fees. We did attempt to get them to reduce or waive the fee, or part of it, but were unsuccessful. Other than that, this hotel was a tremendous bargain for the price. For the record, this hotel is within about 15 minutes of downtown, Old Town, Pacific Beach, Balboa Park, and all of the other tourist areas to see in San Diego.
