Overall, the hotel was beautiful and the stay was comfortable and very nice. The location is great. However, the $34 per night parking fee is ridiculous after spending $330 per night for a room. Also, there are no washers/dryers on site which turned out to be a big inconvenience when traveling with small children.

We have just come back from a 4 centre holiday to the States with the Hilton being our last hotel and worst that we stayed in. Upon arrival you get hit with a $34 per day parking fee plus a $19 MANDATORY resort fee for items that we didn't want, so a bill of over $200 before you start. Our room for 3 was small over looking a back car park and the otherside of the car park is the main road. Also the lift was next to our room, so if you wanted peace and quiet at night time, you wouldn't get it in this room. Also what we thought as complimentary water in our room, like all the other hotels we stayed in, turned out to be $3.50 for a small bottle and $5.50 for a litre bottle .. Thankfully I didn't drink it. We felt this hotel was a total rip off and they were out to get as much money off you as they could. We plan to revisit San Diego in the future, but will be sure to give this hotel a miss!

Great Location !! You can't be more centrally located. Great access to beach activities ( bikes, boats, jet ski, etc...). Public parks on each side of resort are a big plus, plenty of beach and sand. Great areas for SUP boards
Rooms are large and spacious. Thanks Elizabeth for the upgrade. Villas are great place to be. Patios are well furnished with either lounge chairs and or tables with chairs. Some even have fire pits which are Great !!

Pros. LOCATION, Room size, access to water & water activities, great space around resort, boardwalk & park space, friendly staff, FIREWORKS EVERY NIGHT,

Cons. Parking fees, maintenance request went unfulfilled (bed reading light). Food a little pricey

Room Tip: Villas are great. Look at the 600's. even numbers for good pool access

Excellent hotel, a couple of disappoitnments, the buffet breakfast is very average, and the live music by the pool during the day is loud and unnecessary and stopped us using this area.

We asked for a bay view room and definitely had it. Our doors opened onto a patio that led right to the beach. Perfect for the cool mornings and evenings. The room had nice amenities and the bathroom was spacious. Very impressed by the clothesline in the shower to hang beach towels or bathing suits. Lots to offer onsite as well. Wished there was a continental breakfast and didn't like the high price for parking.

Room Tip: Ask for a first floor for easier access to the beach. Also ask to stay in room that faces Sea World...

At first I was frustrated with the $34 parking charge and the $19 resort fee. Yet upon closer inspection, the fee INCLUDES the wireless Internet AND beach activities like Kid Olympics, a one hour paddle board lesson, a short Hobie Cat ride, etc.

The activities staff even hosts s'mores on the beach from 7-8 PM several nights a week.

I rented an 18' sailboat for $40 and sailed in Mission Bay with my daughter and two other guests we met at the property (Costa and his daughter Lexi from Houston, TX). They all had a wonderful time.

In closing, get the most out of your stay by carefully reading the list of amenities given to guests at check-in. I did and found the $19 per day charge well worth it.

Room Tip: Request a west-facing tower room on a higher floor for spectacular views of Mission Bay & SeaWor...

I just came back from a week long stay at the Hilton Resort and Spa in San Diego, California. While the grounds are very pretty, the hotel rooms are in need of a face lift. The rooms are old and falling apart. I can't believe the Hilton chain would allow this to happen. There was mold in the showers, clogged sinks, smelly carpet and broken outlets. We went with a huge group and most of the rooms were not ready - even after check in at 4pm. The maid service is horrible. I noticed in my room that the maid did not wash my bathroom floor the entire time I was there. The pool was very lovely - however - the screaming kids (unsupervised) around the pool was very annoying. Be prepared to pay $27.00 (with tip) each way by cab if you want to go anywhere!! The location is away from the night life in San Diego. (Old Town, Gas Lamp, etc) My recommendation - stay somewhere else. San Diego has beautiful hotels conveniently located.
