“A perfect location”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

This most convenient hotel is right in the middle of Little Italy. Although the room was small (not a problem if you travel light) it was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Many great restaurants were steps away, as were the trolley stop and the waterfront. Although breakfast is not included, a fabulous cafe is next door with the best coffee.

The location is great, you are in the middle of little Italy. The people are nice and we felt welcome. There is a parking, little narrow but just $15 the night. The bedrooms are really clean and the beds are really good but the bedroom must be really noisy, avoid the 412, my relatives did not sleep at all :-(. No breakfast but a little italian coffee shop inside the building.

Room Tip: I think that one should avoid the 4th floor

Great location, right in the heart of Little Italy. That is the only good thing I have to say.

Parking is horrible in this neighborhood. They have a tiny, tiny underground parking garage that is impossible to turnaround in unless you have an awesome turning radius on your car. When we stayed here they were doing construction, so the itsy bitsy garage also was filled with a few construction truck, construction gear, and a crew that ate and relaxed in an open space.

The rooms are super little and feel like a prison cell. Our room had a small window, maybe 1' x 2' up at the ceiling level that had no cover on it, so at sunrise the sun came in to wake us and there was nothing that could be done. The tv was ancient and tiny. The room was however clean.

The single elevator was slow and again, we were inconvenienced every time by the construction workers.

We also had a very nice young man at check-in who gave us incorrect walking directions on a rainy night. We walked over 1 mile out of our way in the pouring rain.

I do not recommend this place and would never stay here again!

Room Tip: Do not stay in 406, it has the tiny window.

Great little hotel, with a cozy feel. Our room was TIGHT for two adults, but with the price we paid we were fine with it. Plus, we were out exploring. Love that it is walking distance to all the great Little Italy restaurants and a quick drive to all attractions in San Diego. Parking was very cheap too and always available, as we had a rental car. We prefer boutique style hotels as opposed to the big chains, and this was right up our alley. Staff was very helpful in giving us directions and giving recommendations.

You can't beat this place for the price. Excellent value in pricey San Diego. Wonderful location in Little Italy section of town near many very good Italian restaurants. Restaurant Mona Lisa was my favorite. Just a short walk to the harbor area, train station, and many other attractions. Would not consider any other hotel in San Diego. The rooms are on the small side and it's not the Ritz-Carlton in decor. It is however a great, basic place to rest your head when not out on the town. Great coffee shop next door.

All the rooms are being re-fitted and we were well pleased with ours, small ,basic but very comfortable. The location is right in the middle of Little Italy with numerous Italian restaurants and the Saturday market on your doorstep.
Car parking in the basement was a bonus as street parking seemed difficult

We stayed here for five nights prior to boarding for a cruise. Picked it for it's location which was excellent. Two minutes walk from the tram stop, right in the middle of Little Italy's bars and restaurants and only a fifteen minute easy walk into centre of town. Only a short taxi ride from airport and even nearer to cruise terminal. With San Diego's efficient transport system meant we didn't need a car with this as a base. Heard train the first night and thought stay might be noisy but it wasn't. Staff were helpful and room was ok. Not much choice near to hand for breakfast. If you want to spend lots of time in hotel probably not for you but fine as a base.
