“Very beautiful Mission”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

The Mission is a bit out of the way of the major San Diego attractions, but if you have extra time, it is a beautiful site. You really only need about 30 minutes to see the site. Entrance is free, but they recommend a $3 donation.

“Just Ok, But I wouldn't go out of my Way”
Reviewed June 1, 2013

If you are in the area, and have a 1/2 hour to spare, then come see this old mission. But really not much of interest, and nothing spectacularly photogenic. Just average.

“the "mother" of the missions”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

During our trip to southern California we wanted to visit several missions and so this seemed to be a good place to start,

It is well worth making a trip here - it isn't miles from anywhere - quite the opposite, as it isn't that far from Qualcomm stadium (home of the NFL Chargers).

There is a car park in front and of the mission and from here it is a short walk (up steps or on an inclined path) to the mission building and gardens. If you only have a short time to visit you can walk around to view the outside of the mission church and can also enter some beautiful side gardens. There is a small charge to enter the mission.

“Historical side trip!”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

Love history so had to go to the first mission founded by Fr. Junipero Serra. It was lovely, quiet and serene. If you like history, go see it. It takes a bit to find, but our GPS got us there. It is California's first church and is an active parish today. Lovely.
