Part of the history of California. Well preserved and well visited. Experience what Father Serra did so many years ago. Take a tour if you can and experience the who's and why's of Spanish California. For those Catholics they have Masses still being performed. While we were there a Wedding was going on.

Another great attraction we found just a few minutes walk from the trolley train. Thought to be the oldest mission in the State of California, it has beautiful gardens, an active chapel, a gift shop, and many historical exibits. Interesting even if you are not Catholic.

If you've never been to one of the historical missions of California you have to go. You'll learn a great deal about early California..

Very well preserved, and still a very holy place. The grounds are wonderful to sit and meditate. If you are there on Sunday, do attend the Mass. The choir is beautiful. Well worth the drive to find it.

A must in San Diego for all its history and what represents. Probably the oldest standing-functioning building in San Diego. You can hear the Sunday noon mass with a beautiful award winning church chorus that sang for Pope Benedict XVI in 2008.

Fact: the seating area of the chorus half counterpart resides in Madrid, Spain in a museum.
