From this point, one can see the entire San Diego Harbour and all the way to a city in Mexico. (Tijuana?) The old lighthouse is an interesting visit. There are great walking trails and magnificent seaside scenery. The Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery is located here as well. Entrance fee was $10 per car, $3 per motorcycle, and military personnel are admitted free. This is a must-see when visiting San Diego.

I took my husband and son to Cabrillo National Monument while we were in San Diego, and it made for a wonderful morning!! Views are amazing, and we learned so much about early California history!

We toured the exhibit about early exploration in the visitors center, which my 8-year-old son thought was really cool. Then, the sweet parks service woman in the gift shop let us dress up as conquistadors (in a bunch of really heavy armor and helmets!) and take photos!

We also snooped in Point Loma Lighthouse, marveling at how the lighthouse keeper must have lived and gaping at the giant, refracting light that kept sailors from shipwrecking. There's even an old kitchen garden up there. We also looked through some of the old military buildings at the monument and learned about military presence there during WWII.

Everywhere you look, there are gorgeous views and something to see and learn. This is great example of why national parks are so valuable!!

Great view of harbor from Point Loma and overlooks Naval Base and beautiful yacht clubs. Peaceful place to think.

Great view of the bay, but the government charges you by the car to be able to drive up to the monument and it closes at 5. Worth it for the photo opportunities.
