I cannot go to San Diego without spending significant time at Point Loma. The views from here are just top-notch. Not only can you see great views of the city, Coronado Bridge, and the harbor, but you could also appreciate the vastness of the Pacific Ocean. We were very fortunate to be able to spot a submarine on a training run. That was very cool. A drive down to the tide pools is a must. You really get a feel for the power of the waves as pounds into the nooks and crannies of the shoreline. The gift shop at Jose Cabrillo Monument is nice. They let you check out binoculars for free.
