Very peaceful and safe. Easy access to many attractions and to and from the airport. A great launching area to see the gaslamp areas and Coronados and away from the business of down town San Diego.

Point Loma is a must-do while in San Diego. Gorgeous views over the bay, overlooking Coronado island. From the main visitor centre, one can watch military jets and choppers departing or returning to the air base down below, very interesting for aviation buffs! There are a lots of walking trail with splendid scenery and don't forget to wade in the tide pools down at the beach (at low tide, naturally!),

No-one ever told me that California was "discovered" by Carbillo. I can't believe that this was left out of my education. It should have been there with my times tables. Even more staggering is that once discovered, no-one bothered settling in California for years afterward. And this was before the traffic got bad.

For a $5 entry to the National Park - this has to be just about the smallest National Park in the US - you get the museum, the tide pools and some truly magnificent views, both over San Diego and the ocean. We even managed to spot a whale.

A thoroughly marvellous way to spend an afternoon.

Beautiful scenic views, tide pools and minimal cost - This is on our list of regular stops in San Diego – great place to go and explore tide pools and enjoy some really beautiful scenery especially if you are on a budget. Tip - check the tides, if you want to explore the tide pools go at low tide.

We ate at the fish market and it was excellent. The view was also great. We could see ships out in the ocean. Also, saliboats were numerous.
