“Another area of S.D. History”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 15, 2011

Point Loma has housed many years of Fishermen that San Diego depended on their industry for so long, then sadly....the business went by the wayside. And I miss seeing the Fishing Boats tied up at San Diego Harbor Drive. However, Point Loma offers Shelter Island, which then offers hotels; restaurants; a fishing pier used a lot. Many places to park with the lawn up against you to put a chair out to enjoy the harbor views. Driving the total length of Shelter Island is a pleasure, with lots of history depicted in various areas. Recalling the Fishermen of San Diego. And other subjects. Point Loma in general is a pleasant place to drive through, around to find various shops and businesses, especially having to do with boats, vessels. On Shelter Isld. they actually Build them there, so very interesting.
Several places to eat, all good selections.

“You really need to check this place out!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2011

Not only is the amazing Pearl Hotel located in Point Loma - but Shelter Island - what a great place to walk around, check out some amazing boats (we saw a 100 foot + research sailboat that blew me away!) and also watch the jets take off from the Navy Air strip across the bay. Watch for submarines too! Too much to list -- check it!

“Excellent! Excellent! Excellent!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2011

Point Loma is a wonderful place. My only regret is that we didn't have more time to spend there. Don't miss this remarkable place. The views. The ocean. The military gravesites. If you are staying at a hotel nearby, go early and take your time.
