All I can say is the photographer who took the photos on the website is a genius!

This is more of a motel and not a bad place to stay but the reality is some way short of expectations.

We paid a room rate of $200 per night with 3rd night free in advance...yet friends just happened to stay on the Saturday we were there and got a walk up rate of $99!

Perhaps if we'd paid $99 we would have been happier.

The hotel is not the nicest, but for the price you can't beat the location! It was within walking distance to good food, the beach and shopping!

Booded this "Junior Suite" one month in advance, called the morning of our stay to make sure all was well and "Juan" said, "Yes, you have an oceon front Junior Suite!"! I was happy and picked up my daughters and headed down to the beach, we checked in at 4 and he didn't say a word, got into my one bed dinky crummy room. Called the desk and said "This is NOT a suite by any means", they said "Oh, tomorrow you can have one, and we'll give ;you a discount for today". The worst part is that the second day, when we DID move to the nice Junior suite, in a Big Hurry, my 9 year old left her 200.00 Nintendo with games in a drawer. We called about it, the maid knew nothing, the next resident who was a scary Black haired woman with a daughter said nothing was there, so, some adult STOLE my daughter's Nintendo. Totally sucked. The beach is fun of course.. Lesson learned is when you get down to this area, trust no-one and everyone is after your money and your stuff, even your children's stuff. Sad but true. Lock up.

Hotel is pretty rundown and didn't know what to think when we arrived and the two mini suite rooms that we had booked were not available. We were offered an upgrade of one large suite, for two hundred dollars more, and when I complained got it for the original price of the two rooms. On a positive note the location is right on the beach, with shops and restaurants on the block. Stunning views of the Pacific.

I was worried about this place after reading some bad reviews on here. I can see how some people might have had bad experiences here - it's not the most stunning place - but my stay was pretty good.

I stayed in room 302. There was a leak over the balcony, and the view was partially obscured by the run-down roof of the lower floor. It was a nice view though, right over Pacific Beach - I couldn't have asked for a better location in that respect. With Pacific Beach being such a loud and busy place, I'd expected a bad night's sleep here. Again, I was pleasantly surprised, the place managed to stay pretty quiet.

The staff were a bit lacklustre. Checking in was a chore, and when we got into the room, there was no power cord for the alarm clock. Not a big deal, but I went down to the lobby to ask for one. I never got one. They were helpful in giving directions for the local busses (to get to downtown San Diego) though.

We had to get the bus, as the carpark was so packed, it would've been a major gamble to take the car out of it (already having paid $12 for a pass) and risk not getting back in.

Our room had no air con, and instead had a portable fan (marked "301", obviously in the wrong room - I wonder if the people in 301 had nothing?) which was actually OK. The TV hardly had any channels on, and there was no hairdryer. They did arrange the towels like a little man, with black stickers for eyes though (see photo...)

It's worth mentioning, the stairs up to the rooms are pretty grim and seemed to be suffering from some sort of leak when i was there, which combined with the fact that there was barely any lighting made them fairly lethal.

Overall, this is a pretty decent hotel, but clearly a bit too busy for its own good - the busy carpark, worn out staff, missing hairdryer and alarm cord - which is forgivable when the location is so close to a great beach.
