Everything was great about this hotel. We had a full ocean view junior suite and could not have been happier. In fact, we canceled plans to visit more of San Diego so that we could spend more time at and around the hotel. We brought in dinner by taking a short walk to many good food options close by. We didn't want to waste time in a restaurant when we had this amazing view and comfortable fairly private outside balcony.

So I'll outline what we liked about the hotel:
- The staff went above and beyond and was just a pleasure to be around
- The view from the room was spectacular, complete with surfers, para-surfers, and enough activity on the beach and boardwalk to constantly keep things interesting. There was a good sense of privacy at the same time.
- The pool was warm and the view from the pool was great. You don't have to be on the beach to feel like you are on the beach. They also had towel like chair covers that were fresh for each person.
- The beach is a few steps down and the hotel provides free chairs and sand toys for the kids.
- The room was clean, very nicely appointed. It had a ton of really nice features: a 6 prong outlet under the desk to charge up all of our electronics, a toaster (we found in the cabinet) , a mini fridge, microwave, extra pillows in the closet, huge tv (even though we didn't use it much), fresh beach towels every day, a towel sculpture each night, robes, comfortable beds and pillows.
- There was a complementary glass of wine when we arrived, fresh apples every day, freshly baked cookies at 4pm - my daughters favorite, complimentary lemonade, iced tea, and water all day long.
- The hotel is small and unasuming, it really felt good to be there.
- The area has enough food and shopping within walking distance - at least for us.

The only potential negatives were small and tremendously outweighed by the positives but to be fair they were:
- The price while reasonable for the area was a bit on the high side for our budget
- Expensive daily garage parking - we found parking on the street pretty easily but were dissuaded from moving the car since we didn't want to have to look for more street parking.
- There is a public rest room near the hotel that seemed to attract a few less than clean people but we never felt unsafe.
- The lighting was eco friendly and turned itself off, which is fine and understandable but seemed to be a slight annoyance from time to time.

All that said, it was one of the most enjoyable hotel stays I've ever experienced.

We just stayed this past week and just got back to 7 feet of snow in Wisconsin. We have travelled alot and this is the first review I am taking the time to write a review because I wanted to thank Megan L and Megan D for an awesome time. Megan L (Front Desk) was great when we arrived on Sat 15th (late around 11:30pm). We were there for our 5 yr anniversary. She really gave us a lot of pointers and took care of us. Throughout the week Megan D. (Guest Amenities) took care of us with spectacular Merlot wine (this is the best wine and very reasonably priced). We had merlot wine in La Jolla that wasn't as good. The hotel is very exceptional as well as the location. Easy to get to San Diego downtown. Recommend Seaport Village, USS Midway, La Jolla beach, and San Diego Zoo. To eat we recommend Konas, Fat Fish, and Fidels Little Mexico for tacos (mahi mahi tacos at happy hour in Del Mar. Excited to come back and stay at Pacific Terrace soon.

Just returned from a three night stay at this hotel and could not have been any more pleased and happy with our choice. It is a smaller hotel where you feel special beginning with check in. We booked an oceanfront king suite which was on the third floor which was large, clean and had a mini kitchen and boasted two separate balconies over looking the ocean. We closed the shutters each night but left the door open in the bedroom and could hear the ocean the entire night. It was heaven! Th hotel is along a boardwalk running along the beach where you can walk, people watch and bike. The hotel is close to several really good casual and more upscale restaurants that are within walking distance. We loved the eclectic energy of pacific beach. Cannot wait to go there again and really hope to!!

Room Tip: If at all possible splurge for one of the oceanfront king suites.

We stayed here for 2 nights in a partial ocean view junior suite. The room is huge and includes a mini kitchen. It's decorated in an old fashioned but romantic way.
The location is fantastic- right on the beach and close to shops/ restaurants and bars.
The staff are friendly and helpful.
Try to request a room higher than the 1st floor as it did get bothersome with people walking past.
If you appreciate craft beer check out the Pacific Bay Ale house and try Kono's for breakfast - both only a few minutes walk from the hotel.

We stayed 3 nights over Valentine's Day/President's Day weekend. We had a rental car and had planned to visit other locations around San Diego. But... after seeing this place and the location, we left the car parked, enjoyed the balcony and everything within easy walking distance of this Oasis on the beach. Highly, highly recommended for romantic getaways... and for veg out time. We suggest the full ocean view balcony room - well worth the price!

Room Tip: Pick at least a partial ocean view room. Full ocean view is better & worth the price.
