“Romantic anniversary getaway with beautiful ocean views”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

A great hotel on the beach and a great location to enjoy the beauty of the Pacific Ocean and the outdoor attractions of Pacific Beach. The Pacific Terrace Hotel surpassed all our expectations on our first visit to San Diego. Our ocean view room was tasteful and spacious, with a comfortable bed and very nice wet bar. The staff were very pleasant and helpful as well. We particularly enjoyed the free use of the beach cruiser bikes at the hotel and directions from staff on some out of the way beach spots.

I got a great deal with bookings.com and found this hotel very well equipped. Fantastic location! No wifi but they were getting it the following month. Staff were helpful and rooms very clean and big. Didn't ask for ocean view but got half of ocean and half of city. Quiet too. I would go back here!

The Pacific Terrace Hotel is a jewel! It is a small hotel on the beach that takes the time to get the details right--4 stripy beach towels rolled in a basket, elephant towel sculpture on the bed, chocolates at turn-down, iced tea and lemonade in beautiful glass dispensers available all day, umbrellas in the lobby IF it might rain, a huge bowl of fruit at the front desk, fresh-baked cookies for a snack, impeccably clean, beautifully furnished, live streaming view of the beach on TV in the lobby and room, a view of the ocean from your room or balcony sitting area, beautiful pool and lovely landscaped surroundings. The staff was genuinely friendly not just polite. We stayed longer than we had planned and I would still be there if that was possible! It's a great area with restaurants within walking distance. It's one of the most charming places I've ever stayed.

We stayed four nights to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. The hotel is in an ideal location for getting around to see the sights in San Diego. However, the room and views were so wonderful we opted to hang around the hotel balcony and pool quite often. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely come back!

This is not a 4 star hotel and it doesn't have 4 star prices. But, it is right on the beach. I found this by doing a google search to find the best beach hotels in San Diego. This was #3. #'s 1 and 2 were both over $400/night. This was under $200 and we got an additional, non-view room for only $118/night for our daughter and hubby who came to visit us for one night. In actuality, their non-view room had a pretty decent view of the ocean.

They do not have a restaurant on the premises but have "room service" by two local restaurants that suits the bill. We ordered the first night from one and were pleasantly surprised. They do have a breakfast room which we forgo. For $15/person it wasn't worth it. Not when there was a fabulous place nearby, La Perla, where we could get awesome breakfast burritos for less than $5!

The beds were comfy. The view awesome. They have a nice pool and hot tub overlooking the Pacific. The bathroom was on a par with Motel 6 but it was clean and the towels a decent size. They also give you 4 big beach towels for the pool so we opted for those after showering.

The staff is very nice, especially the concierge. We only encountered one staff person at night who was less than helpful. Everyone else was outstanding.

The location, Pacific Beach, is wonderful. Great boardwalk where you can walk a long distance and lots of restaurants along the way. I understand that during summer this place is hopping with young people but we were there in mid February and it was pretty civilized.

So, if you are in San Diego and want to stay on the ocean but don't want to pay a huge amount of money for your room, check it out. I think you'll be happy with what you find.

Room Tip: We got a room with a "partial ocean view" on the ground floor. Actually, it was a full vie...

Stayed one night on a quick trip to SanDiego. Booked the special $129 deal and was so disappointed we could only stay one night. Room was beautifully decorated and view from hotel was gorgeous. We had a corner room on the ground floor so we had tocgo outside to see the warer but considering the price we paid that was to be expected. Only negative was it was a little too far from downtown San Diego. Would still come back again!

Recently stayed for a night while in San Diego for business...weather was windy and cold but we couldn't resist keep the sliding glass doors open to listen to the waves at night. It's fairly close to anything you'd like to do. Staff was very friendly and the room was very inviting and huge. The elephant towel sculpture was really cool. We will be back when we can stay for an extended period of time and truly relax and take it all in. For a seaside hotel the prices are reasonable.
