My husband and I decided to spend our 2nd anniversay in San Diego. We chose the Pacific Terrace hotel bc of its location. The view of the ocean is outstanding and all of the rooms have balconies. It was excellent. We arrived to a staff that was welcoming and an environment that was relaxing. Once excorted to our rooms, there was a bottle of champagne and a card in our room to congratulate us on our 2 year wedding anniversary. That was very personal and showed us that the hotel/staff took effort in knowing us and celebrating with us. The room was exactly as it shows on the website. It was beautiful!!! We had all of the comfortsof home but we were in a luxurious hotel. The hotel was next to the beach, across from several grocery/pharmacy stores and in walking distance to multiple restaurants. Wow is the word for this hotel and its amenities. Thanks to the staff for making it a perfect anniversary trip.

Room Tip: Any room is perfect here.

Our partnership/group has been traveling with our families for almost 10 years. We have stayed up and down the coast of southern CA and by far Pacific Terrace offered us such amazing comfort and service as well as beautiful views and convience to the beach. I believe two best features of this hotel, ok, maybe three, are the location which is at the end of Pacific Beach where it is quiet but still withing walking distance to many restaurants. Second, it is a smaller boutique hotel so we saw much more of each other than we had at some of the larger hotels we had stayed at. This was a plus for our group. Finally, Pacific Terrace has a staff that is amazing! Julie G. handled our group reservation and everything was exactly as promised and exceeded our expectations. They have a wonderful breakfast that is very kid friendly, a great fitness facility although you can't beat the views running or biking the boardwalk and they even gave our group the reins to their meeting room where we played games, watched movies and had hot cocoa and cookies each night. Keep in mind that although the price is higher than chain hotels, most families who would normally need two rooms elswhere can comfortably fit in their family or executive suites. This hotel is so charming that my husband sent me and a few girlfriends there for a surprise 40th. They all loved it too and many of the partners have returned with their families since our visit last summer. You will love it!

We just returned from a 6 night stay at the Pacific Terrace Hotel in Pacific Beach, North of San Diego. We loved the hotel and the best part (in addition to the very spacious, beautifully decorated and comfortable rooms) was the customer service. Although some of the facilities were less than we expected (e.g., very small fitness room in the garage) and small pool, it was a wonderful stay and we look forward to returning. When we inquired about being transferred to another room because we were woken up our first two days by noisy neighbors, the staff could not have been more accomodating. Kyla was amazing and offered to move us to another room while we spent our day at Legoland. All they asked was that we pack our stuff, not to include items in the closet and refrigerator. They upgraded us to a junior suite for the inconvenience. When we returned from Legoland, all of our stuff had been moved to the new room. We really appreciated their thoughtfulness. This was by far the best service we've received at a hotel and we travel quite a bit. The location is fabulous. Although not a budget hotel, it is well worth the expense.

Room Tip: We booked an air/hotel package through Expedia.

My husband and I have been back to Pacific Terrace twice. We wouldn't stay anywhere else...steps from the boardwalk, rooms are great because you have a frig, some kitchen stuff, furnishings are upscale but still with a beachy feel and the accommodations are quite roomy...plus, you can't beat the balconies and the view of PB/MB/OB to the South and Old Man's to the north. The staff is so receptive and helpful. A very restful experience!!"

If you like 4 or 5-star quality hotel & you're travelling with a young family, don't stay here. Spend very little more & go to the Hotel Del Coronado (we were glad we did after the 2nd night here). This place is a very beautiful 'condo' type accomodation in the wrong location (unless u are a Pacific Beach surfer dude type). No restaurant or liquor licence on premises. We did not feel safe coming back to the hotel at night. The beach is a long, steep staircase down to cold water & it's not "combed'. The nearby restaurants have slow service & cater to low-budget, surfer kids & low-budget families. There was no restaurant in the hotel. Unless you are guaranteed oceanview on the 3rd floor or higher, you will not really like the view. On one side of the hotel is a 15-storey apartment blocking natural light & your view. On the other side of the hotel is the beach PUBLIC WASHROOM building, a parking lot & the pier (better than the north side anyway). The ladies serving the continental breakfast are grumpy, especially if you get there 10 minutes before closing. The breakfast area is messy, everyone helps themselves & leaves a mess. Too much bird poop on the patio tables & chairs. And the pool --- what a joke! Way too small for all the kids using it. And it is surrounded by glass walls to keep the plentiful beach bums out of the property. Having said that, the staff did try to move us to a better room, altho' it was not enough given our other issues with the surrounding environment. This is not a beach resort hotel. It's a nice condo where u need to go out & get your own supplies & drive everywhere (eg. to good restaurants in La Jolla/ Coronado Island). If that's what u want, AND you can get the Oceanfront rooms, then it would be fine. Otherwise, it's overpriced for what you get.

Family Funseeker,
Thank you for staying with us back in August and for taking the time to write about your experience. We apologize your stay was less than perfect and wish we would have had more room availability. Our well-connected concierge team is continually updating their restaurant list and since your visit, the hotel too has made several upgrades in our food and drink offerings including breakfast and liquor. Your comments will be shared with our entire team and will certainly assist us in our ongoing improvements throughout the hotel. Happy travels to you and your family.

My wife and I stayed there in March 2011 for 14 days. The view from the "ocean view rooms" was great and the rooms for nice and comfortable. The airconditioning / heating system was loud and noisy! Generally the services were good but they varied on a daily basis. Sometimes the rroms were done quickly other days in the afternoon when we came back the had not been done. In the evening after dinner sometimes both bed were prepared on other days only one and on yet others they forgot the room! Wake up calls were forgotten. The view is woth the stay. For breakfast the better places then this hotel.
