“Best place to stay when visiting San Diego”
Reviewed April 22, 2012

This restored 1888 house is wonderful for sleeping, doing your own thing or joining in with conversation with owners or other travelers. Perfect for the introvert or extrovert person. Ben & Doug are knowledgeable about the area--places to visit, where to eat, how to easily get around.
The breakfasts are the best of any B&B I've stayed in--delicious and lovely presentation. Very clean, modern, while being in a charming Victorian home. I love the location because I like to walk everywhere--a few blocks to Balboa Park and the zoo, a good hilly walk to Little Italy or the gas lamp district or a downhill still to the wharf to watch the boats or catch a ferry to Coronado Island or a walk to Hillcrest with bookstores and cafes. I try to visit 2 to 3 times a year and always stay at the Keating House.

Room Tip: My favorite rooms are the Rose, Yellow and Lilac or the room in the carriage house. Each room has i...

My wife and I spent 3 nights at Keating House on the recommendation of friends. We were very pleased that we stayed there. It was close to all the things that make San Diego a wonderful place to visit. Our room was great value for money and the breakfast was healthy and satisfying. We also enjoyed the company of other guests.

This was the perfect place to stay. It was quiet, the owners are very nice and helpful, and the breakfasts were delicious. They even let us stay an extra day after our flight was cancelled. If you're going to San Diego and don't want to stay in a faceless hotel, this place is an absolute delight.

I had a wonderful stay at the Keating House B&B, and the hospitality was great with innkeepers who were gracious and kind and helpful. The Inn itself is beautiful and very authentic, and the room and common areas were spotlessly clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The room rates are reasonable, and it is within walking distance of Balboa Park and downtown in a quiet, attractive, safe, and peaceful residential area. And the breakfasts were delicious. I highly recommend this bed and breakfast for a very pleasurable stay in San Diego. Margie DiJohn

The Keating House has kept its original hardware (light switched, doorknobs, woodwork) from its original form. It is readily accessible from I-5 and its location provides good access to downtown SD (either walking about 20 minutes or driving) as well as being within walking distance of Balboa Park.

My husband and I stayed the night at the Keating House for our 1 yr anniversary and what a great experience. We stayed in the lower back cottage called the Garden Suite. The pictures on their site are right on and there was even more room than anticipated. It was like having our own apartment! There was no TV which we missed at fist especially because it was so dead quiet there. We missed the back ground noise but we turned on the radio, and found other ways to occupy our relaxing time when we were not out walking the sights. AND what sights!! This place is perfectly situated in the midst of everything!! The hosts were VERY nice and informative. Great place. loved it!!

Room Tip: the Garden Suite excellent and VERY private and VERY quiet.
