We had stayed in this rv park several years ago, and while it isn't very glamorous, we did enjoy being right next to the water, could sit by the big windows & see all the water birds in the morning. It cost a little more, but we felt it was worth it.
Here's what you should check out ahead of time. When I called back about a month ago to reserve a spot for next winter, we were told we could not, under any circumstances, pull our motor home into a "bay view" space - had to back in. This would put our bedroom next to the bay - not much view there. We should pay extra for that?????? Found another park next to the water that is more flexible. And, for a 5th wheel it would probably be fine.
The best thing about it is the location in relation to all the attractions in San Diego. Very east to get to anything.

Mission Bay Rv Resort is not a Resort of any kind. It is a slab of cement and just a place to park. The rates are far to high for what is offered. Electricity, Sub-standard Cable, WiFi when working, A Laundry room that only one person can stand in. For 259 sites and only 4 washers and 4 dryers. Zero site privacy. The staff was kurt to say the least.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the campground. After reading the one other review on here I was a little worried. To some extend, yes this is a large fenced in parking lot, but for it's location I have to say "what is to be expected". Also this is definitely not a resort with amenities and such but is a great place to stay for a few days when in the San Diego area. The campground was very clean, bathrooms clean also (if needed), RV parking seemed adequate, the front desk staff was very polite and helpful and the beach, which is right outside the campground, is very nice with a large sand beach, a small launch ramp for Jet Ski’s or small boats. The water was very calm and clean, it is in the bay and there was very little power boat activity which was nice and quiet and also there were people with little kids out in the water kayaking around the area. There is also a rental facility with Kayaks, Jet ski’s and powerboat right on the beach. We also took our bikes and it’s a 10 minute ride around the whole place so it is not very large and you can also ride right down the street to a VERY large City park with plenty of grass that is on the waters edge with Sand beaches as well. Overall it was a very nice place to stay and we will definitely visit again. It was very quiet at night and they had a movie for the kids on Saturday night. One thing to note is that there is no store at the RV park other than a small snack bar with food icecream and does sell ice and there also in no food restarants or stores within walking distance of the RV park.

Just back from our first time here, and find it odd that the word "resort" is in the name, as this is anything but. It is simply a huge, fenced-in parking lot in the middle of a depressing old mobile home park. If you are looking for a scenic, end-destination for camping, this is not it.

Of the hundred-ish spots here, less than 20 actually back up to the bay. Our spot backed to several old mobile homes, separated by weeds and dirt. The spaces are so close together that you can dine at your picnic table less than two feet from your neighbor's sewage hose connection to the ground.

The entire place is surrounded by fences, and the only way we knew we were at Mission Bay is when we left the property.

On their website, there are several dozen strict rules pertaining to RV appearance, age of the RV, vehicle registration, etc. When we checked in, however, no one even looked at our rig let alone our registration.

And all this for about $80 per day...
