“Summer Shakespeare a must.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

We always purchase the summer Shakespeare series here. The productions are magical including an open stage that utilizes the natural trees behind it among other fantastic visuals. The plaza in front of the Old Globe enclave is a great meeting place, in a great Park (even if you only people watch and dont have tickets) and Molly's Pub serves light but filling fare and beverages. Recently we treated ourselves to one of the best lemon bars we have ever had. A peaceful and lovely evening is guaranteed at the Globe's Summer Shakespeare productions. Blankets and hearing devices are available for a nominal sum. Helps on those hard seats.

“"Merchant of Venice" Was Outstanding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

Excellent intimate venue - we sat at the back center of the orchestra and no trouble seeing and hearing the performance. It did get a bit chilly (this was in August) so bring a blanket. The play was outstanding - beautifully acted performance lead by Miles Anderson as Shylock.

“Be careful where you sit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

Double Indemnity was great. Theater in the round is fabulous BUT do not let them sell you a seat at the end of the row that's next to the rail as the rail comes at an angle and you cananot sit comfortably. Otherwise, a fabulous theater and this performance was well staged and well played. We had an early dinner at Prado which was fine and got us there stress free with time to spare. What a treat this complex of theaters is.

“Must go”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

Dont spend your evening sitting in the hotel watching TV. Go see a performance in an out door venue where you can get a cider. But it is outdoors, even in August you need a jacket for the cool evenings. Locals know the deal and take blanket.

Only problem is the nearby eatery is just a snack/sandwich place. Go eat a big lunch the evening you go to a performance. It is located in Balboa Park, so after you find a parking spot, you will have to walk a bit to get to the theater. Not enough time if you go to a restaurant and try to get to the theater before curtain up.
