“Great Irish Pub!”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

The food was good, the beer was excellent (try the sampler) and the atmosphere was exactly what we expected. It's a PUB! There are TVs everywhere with every game on (the night we went there was soccer, softball, baseball & basketball). Little noisy which was just fine. Our party had 10 of us that included a couple of kids and we all enjoyed ourselves!

“Live Irish music with country western”
Reviewed March 14, 2012

I was in the Mira Mesa area and decided to stop in at Callahans around 6 pm.

Usually I am happy with the service, food, drink and atmosphere, but not this time. The service was on the lower end of acceptable in terms of speed. But the main problem was that the canned country western music (in an Irish bar) was conflicting with a live musician playing Irish songs on a harpsichord. It was almost surreal listening to the two totally different music styles. And they had us within about 20 feet of the video games which were also attacking our audio senses. It was about as peaceful as being at an amusement park.

We asked our server if she could turn down the country music so that we could better hear the live performer. She agreed and left and then we noticed that the country music level went up. We ended up moving to a different table where the live musician was almost able to overpower the other noise sources.

Food? Good.
Beer? Good
Atmosphere? Sucked.

“Good beers & pub food”
Reviewed November 2, 2011

After a few visits, I'm done trying to find anything interesting on the menu...it's pub grub. BUT, the beers are great & there are tons of TVs for viewing the game.

“Good place for lunch”
Reviewed October 6, 2011

I went to Callahan's last week. I had a French dip and the price was $9-10 and was enjoyable.

They have some microbrews on tap. I enjoyed the IPA. Very good.

They do a good business, provide good service, good food, and have good beer.

A nice place to have lunch.

“A great neighborhood brew and good hearty food.”
Reviewed August 3, 2011

It is really nice to have this place in mira mesa. The beers are fresh and very tasty. Potent too! The food is very good and reasonably priced. Avoid the crowds on wednesday nights unless you absolutely require super cheap buffalo wings. Stop by and patronize one of the few pkaces in mira mesa where you can get a fresh brew.
