Followed the advice of others and took a chance on this little spot and we were not disappointed!! Best taco shells I've ever had and that's saying a lot!! The food was fabulous and cheap. We would be regulars if we lived closer. Highly recommend!!

I was taken to this place by a cousin that lives in San Diego. Wow! The food was great and the portions was huge! As a visitor it wasn't too far from Mission Beach so that was a plus. I will definitely be choosing to go back here next visit! The Carne Asada Quesadilla is amazing!

Our family had just flown in to San Diego and we were starving. We could not make it to our rental in Oceanside without eating. We took a blind exit and looked up something close. We were lucky, we found JV's. For a flatlander family to have this as their first vacation meal upon hitting the coast was just super. The flautas are to die for and the smothered burrito is a thing of wonder. Excellent salsa bar, friendly staff, and great prices. Just a great place and a really good meal.

This is a San Diego style taco shop a step up in my opinion from the many diffrent ____berto's you see while driving around with a great price to value ratio. The food is very good keeping in mid that the emphasis is on price ratio to quantity over being a gourmet destination. Usually the best items are the specials handwritten on pieces of paper posted by the order counter. Many people order the surf and turf burrito is huge requiring 2 large burrito tortillas to contain all the shrimp and carne asada (beef steak) inside. I frequently order the vegetarian burrito which is a single tortilla but still huge filled with beans, rice, cheese, sour cream, lettuce, pico de gallo, and whatever else you put on it from the salsa bar. Anything with adobada (el pastor grilled on a flattop) is almost always very tasty, the chix philly burrito is a good choice, various mexican style soups which are large are also popular. A nice thing is that alll the sodas and Mexican Bang brand flavored waters such as tamarindo, horchata, jamica, and pina-colada cost the same as sodas and refills are free. So if you want a good value place for your money this is a good choice. They also show the Tijuana soccer team Xolo games live but do nt allow you to BYOB and don't nave an alcohol license.

Delicious food, fast and friendly service too! We ordered a plate of 10 rolled tacos and asked them to make them half chicken, half beef. It came smothered with guacamole, cheese, lettuce and sour cream. We also got a humongous carne asada quesadilla with beans and sour cream on the side. The delicious beans were in a fairly good sized container. Total cost for 3 was $14 and we took home leftovers and full bellies!!!
