We have been on a lot of sailing experiences in the US and Europe and are not easily impressed. But Stars and Stripes is so wonderful and amazing that I don't have enough superlatives to describe the sailing experience. The crew and owners are all kind, friendly, welcoming and of course top notch sailors. The boat itself (the 1992 America's Cup winner) is beautiful and terrifically fast. Everyone gets a turn to skipper or do other jobs on board and no sailing experience is needed. The three hours just whizzed by and I could have stayed for several more spins around the Bay. Get there early so you don't miss Bee's history of the America's Cup - impressive. DO NOT miss this!

Thank you so much for such a kind and positive review! As you gathered, we feel so fortunate to be able to share the experience of Stars & Stripes which includes raising and trimming sails and of course taking the helm. We are also glad to share knowledge of the America's Cup history, so guests have an idea of the boat's historical significance. Thank you for letting us be a part of your sailing memories here in San Diego, and thanks again for the wonderful review. Gratefully, Lynn

Great introduction to the vessel and its history. It’s worth the time to arrive early! Skilled crew always willing to chat about the boat, how it works, and anything else you can imagine. I still can’t wipe the smile off my face a day later. I totally recommend it!

Thank you so very much for the great review! Sounds like you had a good time on our authentic America's Cup boat Stars & Stripes USA-11. And I agree, the America's Cup history is foundational in realizing exactly what we offer. Back in 1992, San Diego, Stars & Stripes was a new design for the America's Cup. Actually, the yacht was designed to be raced here in San Diego's light to moderate winds! With San Diego's amazing weather, we are able to take guests out, like yourself, year round. Hope to see you again soon.
Gratefully, Lynn

The sail was super smooth and the captain and the crew were very knowledgeable and made sure to answer any questions and involve the passengers in any way possible. They even let us drive the boat for a little while! I highly recommend coming to stars and stripes if you haven't been sailing before, because you won't be disappointed!

Thank you for taking the time to write the nice review! I hope you will have a lasting memory of sailing Stars & Stripes USA-11. Our boat was built to be raced right here in San Diego, more specifically in our light to moderate winds. We feel fortunate to be able to share the hands on experience with guests like you! - Lynn

My husband’s birthday was such a special day because of Lynn, his wife and the entire crew of Stars and Stripes! The weather had threatened to be rainy but that did not stop us (the weather in San Diego is almost always great), and the sun came out, we caught a nice wind and we were off. What an experience to be on an America’s Cup boat! There is nothing like it. We all had the opportunity to take the helm and to “grind” if we wanted to. No pressure whatsoever but so much fun! Our entire family of five and a few others made for a group that was not too large to fit everyone comfortably. The scenery from the San Diego Bay was gorgeous and we sailed right under the Coronado Bridge.
This was a fabulous trip and we would do it again in a heartbeat! Thank you so much Stars and Stripes.
Happy Sailings

Thank you so much for the wonderful review! I'm so glad your husband got to celebrate his birthday aboard Stars & Stripes USA-11. And thank goodness that the rain didn't materialize! Wind must have been out of the South for us to be able to zip under the Coronado Bridge and take a look at the numerous Navy Ships, always fun and interesting. We look forward to seeing you again! This was a thoroughly enjoyable experience from start to finish. I arrived early to hear the optional history on the America’s Cup and was rewarded by a very interesting talk with some great slides.
I liked the fact that there was no mucking around on this trip. In what seems like 10 minutes after stepping on the boat you are out on the harbour under sail.
The crew were excellent, not only providing easy to understand sailing instruction but also giving a history on the many landmarks you will cruise past and describing the numerous other craft you will see on the water. San Diego Harbour is busy!
Participation is encouraged, both grinding on the winches and steering the helm. It’s a lot of fun that anyone can do but is optional if you just want to sit back and enjoy the view. It’s an especially good experience for families with school age kids.
You are encouraged not to use you phone to take photos so you don’t run the risk of it going over the side. Instead they have a dedicated crew member taking photos all day and will send you a link at the end of the day. They say they will take a lot of photos and they are not joking. Not only do they photograph you sailing but also literally anything on the Harbour or shore that is of interest. The photos are excellent quality and supplied at no charge.
Finally when you get back on shore you’re invited to watch a slideshow of the day’s action while you sip on a beer or wine.
