Recommended length of visit: More than 3 hours
Owner description: Public and private 3 hour sails aboard Stars & Stripes USA-11, the authentic 1992 America's Cup racing yacht sailed by Dennis Conner. Take the helm, grind the winches, or just hang on as this amazing high performance racer zips around San Diego Bay at twice the speed of the average sailboat. A truly unique and memorable experience. Soft drinks, water, peanuts, & pretzels are provided at no cost. You are welcome to bring your own camera, but a crew member will be taking complimentary photos & videos of all the action on board as well as the sights of San Diego Bay. After the sail, complimentary refreshments are served while viewing the days activities on our flat screen TV. The photos & videos will then be posted on Google Web Albums for free access and use. The total cost (no additional taxes or fees) of $125 for adults & $75 for children (5-18) is the best value and most exciting venue on San Diego Bay.
Useful Information: Activities for older children

This is a chance to be part of sailing an America's Cup class racing yacht of the 12 meter days. The opportunity to not only grind, but to also drive this wonderful boat, should not be missed. We were 13.5 knots at one point. The love of the crew for Stars and Stripes was palpable. The weather was perfect. As one crew member said on our return, "if you didn't have fun today, then sailing is not for you!" For me, if you have sailed a lot, a little, or never even thought about sailing, you will have an experience you will always remember and want to do again.

For a non-sailor this is a fun activity sailing around San Diego bay. One couple on my trip had sailed the previous day and came back for more. However, for a sailor this is a chance to sail a 20-year old light-wind Ferrari. We only had half-a-dozen customers so I got a long turn at the helm. After sailing downwind I had the helm to beat our way back to where we started. I got to sail it on the edge of pointing as high as I could while dealing with slightly variable and slightly shifting winds. I was making 10 knots while close hauled in a roughly 12-knot breeze. It doesn't get more fun for a sailor. You are at the helm of a 78-foot boat carrying 4000 square feet of sail. I passed some boats like they were standing still. I smile just remembering it.

Went here with several guys from a retreat. Most from the Midwest. I sail sometimes and don’t enjoy it. This was great! Super views, boat was very stable and fast. Fun to steer (they let you). You get to grind and help out. The captain and owners and crew could not be nicer!
