Recommended length of visit: More than 3 hours
Owner description: Public and private 3 hour sails aboard Stars & Stripes USA-11, the authentic 1992 America's Cup racing yacht sailed by Dennis Conner. Take the helm, grind the winches, or just hang on as this amazing high performance racer zips around San Diego Bay at twice the speed of the average sailboat. A truly unique and memorable experience. Soft drinks, water, peanuts, & pretzels are provided at no cost. You are welcome to bring your own camera, but a crew member will be taking complimentary photos & videos of all the action on board as well as the sights of San Diego Bay. After the sail, complimentary refreshments are served while viewing the days activities on our flat screen TV. The photos & videos will then be posted on Google Web Albums for free access and use. The total cost (no additional taxes or fees) of $125 for adults & $75 for children (5-18) is the best value and most exciting venue on San Diego Bay.

From start to finish, this was an informative and fun sail. My husband, daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the presentation prior to the sail and the sail, oh my! We had packed in a lot of activities in the week we visited, but this outranked them all. The weather was perfect and the boat was fast. It was fun to take the helm and my husband had a blast being a main grinder. The captain, first mate and crew were personable and knowledgeable about the boat. I highly recommend this tour.

A wonderful, interactive trip on San Diego bay. The captain makes sure every passenger has a chance to steer, and the crew gives everyone who wants to a chance to "grind" the winches. The first mate is very knowledgeable and informative, pointing out and explaining landmarks as well as taking pictures which are posted to their website for downloading the next day. All this while sailing as if in a race. A truly excellent way to spend an afternoon.

This was the highlight of my trip to San Diego. What a way to see the bay. Great experience I will never forget! The captain, Lynn, and his crew are the nicest group of people to sail with.

This is a once in a lifetime experience! Don't expect seats or comfort. Wear deck shoes. This is a racing boat; the decks are clear for the crew to move during the race. . The sail is is the tallest one on the bay. This is a beautiful sail on San Diego Bay in the boat that won the America's Cup. The captain is chatty about racing. As I had some sailing experience and my 10 year old grandson was along, we got to man the helm briefly. What a thrill! Worth every penny.

This is NOT another tacky tourist trap nor a party boat cruise but instead a unique experience that is well worth the price.

The sailboat is expertly captained by one of the owners and while there are plenty of volunteer crew aboard, passengers including my teenage son had the opportunity to work the boat's winches and to take a turn steering. Although my son's expectations for a "tourist experience" were low, he was pleasantly surprised.

One does not have to take a camera (or phone) as the crew takes individual pictures and video that one can download for free afterward. If you enjoy sailing, this 12 meter design racing boat has to be one of your ultimate experiences. If you are not interested in sailing, you still will receive a great view of the harbour, learn the history of some of the sights, probably meet some nice people and get a suntan. The boat's motion is very steady (except when the Navy Seals roar by) and as it stays in the harbor, sea sickness would not be a concern for most people. There is a presentation on the history of the America's Cup race beforehand and some light refreshments at the end of the trip.
