Recommended length of visit: More than 3 hours
Owner description: Public and private 3 hour sails aboard Stars & Stripes USA-11, the authentic 1992 America's Cup racing yacht sailed by Dennis Conner. Take the helm, grind the winches, or just hang on as this amazing high performance racer zips around San Diego Bay at twice the speed of the average sailboat. A truly unique and memorable experience. Soft drinks, water, peanuts, & pretzels are provided at no cost. You are welcome to bring your own camera, but a crew member will be taking complimentary photos & videos of all the action on board as well as the sights of San Diego Bay. After the sail, complimentary refreshments are served while viewing the days activities on our flat screen TV. The photos & videos will then be posted on Google Web Albums for free access and use. The total cost (no additional taxes or fees) of $125 for adults & $75 for children (5-18) is the best value and most exciting venue on San Diego Bay.
Useful Information: Activities for older children

This is a great experience and a terrific team building opportunity. Working together as a part of the crew, we helped sail one of the Americas Cup boats. The crew was friendly and helpful and it was a great escape for the team. Everyone had a turn at the helm and they took hundreds of pictures that they post online and are available to you at no additional charge.

Lively and congenial crew made this my best ever sailing experience. B is the life of the party with knowledge of sailing and San Diego harbor. Husband Lynn a most congenial host. With captain Mark gently guiding all of us through our turn at the helm. A sailing experience like no other on an authentic american cup racing boat.
My wifes first sailing experience and she was first at the helm-LOVED IT

Whether you are an avid sailor or just wanting a pleasure cruise in the Bay, I give this experience aboard a sleek, fast, gorgeous, well maintained yacht 10 stars! First you are briefed on the history of the yachts that raced in Americas Cup by a most knowledgeable 1st mate (whom by the way took amazing photos and videos the whole day) then the Crew & Captain take the time to make sure each and every person aboard has a chance to work the winches and wheel. You can be as involved as you'd like or just sit back and enjoy. We were blessed with a glorious day of sun and wind and it is an experience I will never forget, and will be back again. It's also fun hanging with the crew afterwards to view all the fabulous FREE photos and videos that you can download once home and relive the wonderful experience!!!

Like I said very little wind but, it was still a Great day on a Great Boat. I saw one comment where a gal said the Captain didn't like woamen on the crew. I'll tell you first hand Grinding those winches is a lot of work and the Captain was just making everybody aware it's not a walk in the park. The Captain and Crew were funny professional and nothing but FIRST CLASS. I would recomend this trip to anyone, it's just FUN. The pictures they took were really good and the video was great also. There is a reason everbody gives these guys high marks.

Our group only had time for one "special activity" and we chose Sail Stars & Stripes over the Segway, bike and hop on off tours. Without a doubt, this is the best bang for your buck in San Diego. The boat was stunning and in exceptional condition which says a lot as boats are hard to maintain. Crew was professional and loved sailing with a true passion. Every passenger had a chance to take the helm and participate with the sails if desired. It was a perfect way to end our stay in San Diego.
