“A Wonderful Afternoon!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2014

The romance of a pirate ship, the mystery of a submarine, and the elegance of a yacht, combine to make the maritime musuem captivating for its guests. If its lunchtime, you are next to a seafood restaurant that is known for its tasty entrees.

“A great museum.”

So many things to see and learn about history. Great place for kids to learn about San Diego and Maritime History. Haven't been in all the areas yet, but looking forward to going back there.

Loved touring the ships....Soviet sub interesting but sort of creepy in a haunted sort of way. The history was fascinating! We really enjoyed it!

“Don't miss this!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2014 via mobile

What you see from land looks fairly simple until you walk in and find there are 11 different sea-going vessels from submarines to dainty yacht to tall ships. You actually walk directly onto a steam driven river boat which contains the maritime museum. The real treat is being able to actually explore most of the boats- such fun to compare and be amazed at the workmanship. We were lucky and had few fellow tourists so we could take our time and enjoy things. They still take the Star of India out and what a magnificent sight that must be. We learned so much in those 2.5 hours. You must wear sturdy shoes, be able to climb stairs and, with the Russian sub, squeeze through less than a meter size entry hatch. Of course, you can pick and choose what you want to see. Afterwards, walk (or take a cycle cab) to the Fish Market restaurant patio to review all those great photos over a well- deserved glass of wine! Perfect San Diego experience!

“Way cool seaside tour in San Diego ,”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2014

While in San Diego, my hotel was across the street from the the Maritime museum, this is one neat piece of history and all docked right there in San Diego! I enjoyed taking my family thrust the old sailing vessels, from the Star of India,to the US Navy's USS Dolphin a former sub,and even a Russian submarine. Please wear smart shoes, no high heels ladies! Also ladies wear pants too, there are parts of the submarines tour you will need to climb ladders or go thru hatches. Not as accessible to handicapped for the sub parts, but subs are hard access even for us Navy types. Have a great tour my family had a blast!
