I would say probably a full day till night. It was really huge. Take the bus to have an overview then you could walk a day through and maybe then go for the night safari which we did not. But there was heat wave the day we went so it was really hot and tiring but still we enjoyed ourselves.

The best zoo ever. So many animals and birds. Love the penguins and the turtles. The tour guides were very informative. I learned alot and we really enjoyed our day at the zoo. We will visit again.

This was perhaps my 5th time to this zoo. We arrived about 11:00 am. We took the bus first and saw a few animals. When we hiked the zoo, at exhibit after exhibit, the animals were tucked into their private areas where people could not observe them. Feeding time was given out of sight. I was disappointed especially at the polar bear exhibit. We spent a combined wait time of 1.5 hours waiting for any of the three bears to decide to come out and play. I did see one bear rear his head, one time, before returning to his "bear rug" look in the doorway. We never saw either of the other bears. I think that the cool hideouts could be arranged in areas where zoo visitors could still observe the animals.

Well worth the time and (for us) the heat. So getting there - we drove and found plenty of free parking. We had ordered our tickets on line - so we had quick and easy entry in to the zoo. With and under the guidance of our San Diego-based daughter, we started with a free bus tour. That gave a great overview of the site. There are featured short talks or demonstrations - so look for something of interest to you. The lemurs were great. We did the skyfari (also free) twice - during the day and at night. There’s a wait, but it goes fairly quickly. We slipped out for the hottest part of the day (make sure you get your wrist stamped with invisible ink) and came back on dusk for what turned out to be a whole new experience. Where during the day, you might be lucky to see an empty enclosure or the ear of a mountain lion, at dusk and just after, they were there in full view. All in all a great day and well worth what might be viewed as a somewhat steep cost.
