Owner description: Founded in 1916, the Zoo has been an icon in San Diego for nearly 100 years—and an absolute must-see in Southern California. Spend the day monkeying around in our tropical oasis as you visit beautiful habitats that are home to gorillas, eagles, tigers, sun bears, Asian leopards, rare reptiles, a palette of colorful birds, and more. Visit the Australian Outback to delight in our colony of 24 koalas, and travel along Panda Trek to experience giant pandas and other animals that share their bamboo forest habitat. Go back in time through Elephant Odyssey to discover what animals used to roam Southern California and see what the elephants are up to. Enjoy a guided tour on a double-decker bus or the scenic view from the Skyfari aerial tram, and dine in the peaceful surroundings of Albert's Restaurant. Discover the wonders of wildlife with animal encounters, interactive experiences, and keeper chats. A leader in animal care and conservation, the San Diego Zoo is at the heart of the San Diego experience.

There's always something for everyone to enjoy at the San Diego Zoo -- everything is top-notch and presented perfectly. On the day we visited one of the staff members said about 20,000 people were in the zoo at that time and even with that number of visitors, everything was great.

One thing we discovered nearly too late is their tour bus system. The tour buses are great and on the ride you see about 70% of the exhibits. Looking back we wish we'd seen the buses first and taken them to see the overall exhibits and then returned for a walking tour.

The other thing we discovered is a pretty well-hidden Hummingbird aviary. It's hard to find but really well worth the visit -- all in all a wonderful place for all, most especially younger children.

Had a good day at the zoo but very surprised to see the very small enclosures for most animals. Why do these places insist on serving such poor quality albeit expensive food.

It took us 2 days to comfortably visit the entire zoo. This zoo was just amazing. The exhibits and the layout of the zoo are first rate. Aerial trams and trains really help in getting around this 100 acre zoo. Definitely a must see location while in San Diego.

This Zoo is fabulous. Everything here including koala bears, pandas, tigers, etc. lots of walking but there is a tour bus for extra fee. Food is expensive. My favorite ride was on the Skyfari. Did it 3 times, lol!

Still loved this zoo 20 years later. So many plants and animals and lots of shade :). We also had a delightful Bus tour by zooman who was so funny. 2 yo and teens loved it as well.
