Owner description: Founded in 1916, the Zoo has been an icon in San Diego for nearly 100 years—and an absolute must-see in Southern California. Spend the day monkeying around in our tropical oasis as you visit beautiful habitats that are home to gorillas, eagles, tigers, sun bears, Asian leopards, rare reptiles, a palette of colorful birds, and more. Visit the Australian Outback to delight in our colony of 24 koalas, and travel along Panda Trek to experience giant pandas and other animals that share their bamboo forest habitat. Go back in time through Elephant Odyssey to discover what animals used to roam Southern California and see what the elephants are up to. Enjoy a guided tour on a double-decker bus or the scenic view from the Skyfari aerial tram, and dine in the peaceful surroundings of Albert's Restaurant. Discover the wonders of wildlife with animal encounters, interactive experiences, and keeper chats. A leader in animal care and conservation, the San Diego Zoo is at the heart of the San Diego experience.

“San Diego Zoo ”
Reviewed January 23, 2014 via mobile

What a wonderful place. Bought regular admission ticket. The free bus tour was great. We learned the layout so we could plan our tour. We had only four hours for the visit. Not enough to see everything. Had lunch at the Treetop Cafe. Great views. Make sure you get a map of the zoo.

“Great zoo, a bit pricey”

Great zoo, a little too commercial for my tastes, A bit pricey. But if you're in San Diego you really should go.

“must see the pandas”
Reviewed January 23, 2014

This is a nice zoo as far as zoos go. The best is that a flight in the cable car is included in the ticket: do this first to orientate yourself and see where everything is. An other tip: go to the pandas first thing in the morning when it is not so busy. Same applies to the bus ride. Everything get busy later during the day.

“The Best Zoo!”
Reviewed January 22, 2014

We have a membership to this Zoo. It's worth every penny. This place is huge. Our kids are 2 and 9 and they love coming here. There are so many animals and they are all so well taken care of. Even us adults enjoy going. Plenty of food options, however we do always take our own food and water bottles. The skytram is really enjoyable and you can see Balboa Park too. Lots of little gift shops. We also attended Jungle Bells. There weren't a whole lot of animals up at night but it was still such a fun time. It was interesting to walk around the Zoo at night. My kids really enjoyed watching the hyenas and elephants who were up and going. We've been to a lot of Zoo's over the years but this one is by far the best we've been to.

“Excellent day.”
Reviewed January 22, 2014

We went first thing in the morning and it was not crowed at all. we managed to see all the exhibits and animals. Very well worth the $40 cost each. It included the tram ride across the zoo and we took that several times since there was not line up and wait time.
