Owner description: Founded in 1916, the Zoo has been an icon in San Diego for nearly 100 years—and an absolute must-see in Southern California. Spend the day monkeying around in our tropical oasis as you visit beautiful habitats that are home to gorillas, eagles, tigers, sun bears, Asian leopards, rare reptiles, a palette of colorful birds, and more. Visit the Australian Outback to delight in our colony of 24 koalas, and travel along Panda Trek to experience giant pandas and other animals that share their bamboo forest habitat. Go back in time through Elephant Odyssey to discover what animals used to roam Southern California and see what the elephants are up to. Enjoy a guided tour on a double-decker bus or the scenic view from the Skyfari aerial tram, and dine in the peaceful surroundings of Albert's Restaurant. Discover the wonders of wildlife with animal encounters, interactive experiences, and keeper chats. A leader in animal care and conservation, the San Diego Zoo is at the heart of the San Diego experience.

This is a fantastic zoo. We didn't buy any add-ons and found it to be just fine. I used our Passport. Card to save some money. It's a big zoo, so be prepared to do a lot of walking. I will say that the bus tours they offer are somewhat annoying if you are walking by. Many of the areas of the zoo don't have a separated road for the buses. So, you have to watch where you are walking.

The prestige of the San Diego Zoo is not unwarranted and undoubtedly earned. It is one of many jewels San Diego has to offer residents and visitors alike. It is a vast property with much to see. Exhibits are spacious and well designed, not only individually, but as a whole providing a fantastic means of visit by foot.

I recommend starting for the farthest point you wish to visit and setting a time limit if you are not interested in staying the entire day. It is easy to stay the entire day. We did not take advantage of any transportation options outside of our own two feet.

The line for the pandas was a bit long (as expected) in the morning, but was worth it to see these exquisite creatures. Be sure to grab a beer before standing in line (it makes the line go faster). The polar bears and koala exhibits are both fantastic and are a must when visiting the zoo.

Every staff member encountered was pleasant, helpful and well educated. Each were incredibly helpful and friendly.

Visit the San Diego Zoo. It is well worth the cost of admittance.

This place feels more like a theme park than a zoo. Great exhibits. Food is overpriced, and mediocre. $5 for a coke. Lots of screening kids everywhere. You will need a full day to see this place.

Enjoyed how close many of the walking areas were to the animals. There's plenty of walking and the trolly tour was worth the wait.

Aside from the always busy Panda exhibit, we enjoyed strolling through the zoo. My favorite place was the "lost forrest"...although there are no animal exhibits in it, it gives you a sense of serenity and transports you, albeit briefly, into another world.
