Owner description: Founded in 1916, the Zoo has been an icon in San Diego for nearly 100 years—and an absolute must-see in Southern California. Spend the day monkeying around in our tropical oasis as you visit beautiful habitats that are home to gorillas, eagles, tigers, sun bears, Asian leopards, rare reptiles, a palette of colorful birds, and more. Visit the Australian Outback to delight in our colony of 24 koalas, and travel along Panda Trek to experience giant pandas and other animals that share their bamboo forest habitat. Go back in time through Elephant Odyssey to discover what animals used to roam Southern California and see what the elephants are up to. Enjoy a guided tour on a double-decker bus or the scenic view from the Skyfari aerial tram, and dine in the peaceful surroundings of Albert's Restaurant. Discover the wonders of wildlife with animal encounters, interactive experiences, and keeper chats. A leader in animal care and conservation, the San Diego Zoo is at the heart of the San Diego experience.

“The very best zoo in the world”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

I have traveled all over the world and visit a country's or city's soon if they have one. Many are very good, but I have yet to find one that is better than the San Diego Zoo. The natural settings, the variety of animals, the interesting exhibits, the easy way of seeing everything via trams or sky rides or special vehicles. I've been to this soon dozens of times and never tire of it. It is absolutely the greatest.

“Gorgeous Zoo!”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

Pace yourself. Definitely take the tram up to the top-most point of the zoo. The buses are a great way to get around and see animals too. The tour (included in most ticket prices) is good, but the regular buses provide a lot of info as well. The Zoo and Balboa Park are must-sees while in San Diego.

“Premier Zoo”

All day outing. Lots of walking up and down hills. The food choices are good but, you're allowed to bring in snack and water. The exhibits are all well organized and are accessible.

“Must See!”
Reviewed June 28, 2013 via mobile

Following the advise from everyone I spoke with, we visited the SD Zoo. We got the 3 in1 pass good for 7 days for Sea World, Zoo Safari, and the SD Zoo. We were able to get these passes from Costco and a significant savings. It paid for itself early on.

At te zoo we were privileged to see the baby panda and its mom, very cute. We also timed it right to see the ambassador cheetah and companion dog. Very awesome and up close. We rode the Sky -Fari 3 times (included in ticket) and the in-off "express" bus several times. Apparently the tour bus is included as well, but we did just fine with the on-off bus. The tour bus you can not get off.

Get the refillable glasses ( not souvenir). Food is otherwise average. New koala exhibit was very interesting and staff were there to answer questions.

Great family experience. BRING A WATER BOTTLE!
