Owner description: Founded in 1916, the Zoo has been an icon in San Diego for nearly 100 years—and an absolute must-see in Southern California. Spend the day monkeying around in our tropical oasis as you visit beautiful habitats that are home to gorillas, eagles, tigers, sun bears, Asian leopards, rare reptiles, a palette of colorful birds, and more. Visit the Australian Outback to delight in our colony of 24 koalas, and travel along Panda Trek to experience giant pandas and other animals that share their bamboo forest habitat. Go back in time through Elephant Odyssey to discover what animals used to roam Southern California and see what the elephants are up to. Enjoy a guided tour on a double-decker bus or the scenic view from the Skyfari aerial tram, and dine in the peaceful surroundings of Albert's Restaurant. Discover the wonders of wildlife with animal encounters, interactive experiences, and keeper chats. A leader in animal care and conservation, the San Diego Zoo is at the heart of the San Diego experience.

Love the San Diego Zoo! We went there around 9:00am and it was the best time when all the animals were out. It is alot of walking so be prepared. Other then that the zoo is awesome!

By far the best part of our trip! I've been to the Calgary Zoo - which is a high class zoo, but this one is in a whole other category! So well done with so much time and effort put into everything. We spent over 6 hours there and we could have spent longer for sure!

Wear comfortable tennis shoes, lots of walking, climbing and on a humid San Diego day takes a lot out of you! Taxi stands are a good jaunt from the exit--more walking!

I grew up going to this zoo and The Wild Animal Park and so have adult kids. Would you believe free parking? Our family will never be there for the last time. Coupons are easy to come by even though the admission is very reasonable and goes to a great cause. You can get a LOT of exercise or take the bus tour. The food is pretty good and they do sell beer which is great on a warm day. Didn't feel like I needed to say much about the animals, that goes without saying, its a huge park and they're always adding on. Take plenty of water and a picnic if you are on a tight budget.

We really enjoyed our trip to the SD Zoo. We went on a weekday in June and got there at 9:30am. We had purchased our tickets online with a discount code, so we just had to print them out from the kiosk (very quick), no line to enter. We visited the Reptile House and Reptile Walk until the Sky Tram opened at 10am. Then we took the skyfari to the back of the Zoo to see the Polar Bears, Pandas, and other animals. It was a very cool day, so the animals were quite active (except the Polar Bears who evidently have acclimated and do not like to swim in water below 50 degrees). We took the skyfari back to the front and took a tour on the double decker bus. We bought the souvenir cup ($10) for both a souvenir and to get free refills. Our family of 4 shared the drinks (you can get disposable courtesy cups from the vendors). We stayed 6 hours--didn't seem that long. Very fun afternoon!
