We enjoyed the nighttime tour, however, it was heavy on the ghost stories. Got some history but would have liked more. Being in the house at night was neat.

Visiting during the day clearly isn't going to be as much fun as if you were participating in the night ghost tour so our self-guided one didn't provide the thrills I was hoping for. The home itself was quite small but well taken care of, however, and decorated beautifully based on the small peaks we got of each room. A few "guides" were available throughout the house to answer questions but other than that the experience was pretty quiet and a little disappointing during the Halloween season. Still fun to try though and the Old Town neighborhood more than made up for it :)

My fiancé and I happened upon on tour when we were driving up the coast. We loved the area and the history of old town, but our guide, Cecilia, was horrible. She was unsure of the facts and seemed to be making stuff up as we went along. It was almost as if that was her first visit to the house as well. Needless to say, I think the ghosts were disappointed in her too because we did not see any paranormal activity.

My husband and I love touring historic homes. We took a 6 PM tour, which turned out to be a ghost tour, which was fine. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, and the rooms were nicely furnished. (Most were stanchioned off so we could only peek in.)

The main hallway, however, is incredibly tacky. From floor to ceiling, the walls appear to be lined in linoleum. If that's not bad enough, someone took what appears to be a black, magic marker and outlined fake cement blocks on it!

There were also 16 people in my tour group, which was about twice as many as could comfortably fit in the ugly hallway. This tour is NOT worth $10!

Please, if you'd like to see a great historic home in San Diego, go to the Marston House. THAT is a place worth visiting.

Being a big fan of Ghost Adventures, our son wanted to see Whaley House. We visited Old Town during the day so I don't know what he expected. In any case, the museum was very interesting and we love history. The staff (who dress the part) were very friendly and answered all our questions. It would have been nice to have a personal tour instead of self guided but we still had a great time. Even with no ghost sightings or encounters, it was an educational experience and it was nice to have our son interested in our American history. Maybe next time we'll visit at night!
