I'd wanted to visit this haunted home ever since seeing a show about it on t.v.. The home has a big part in San Diego's history. It is a small home, but housed the court house, a small store, and the areas first theatre. Although we didn't see any spirits on our trip, many people have reported ghostly encounters here. I felt it was well worth the $6 price. It is expensive keeping old building and homes in good condition and that seemed like a fair price. The docents wear period costumes and are extremely knowledgeable.

We did two tours of Whaley House. The first was a self guided tour. We took the self guided because we wanted our seven year old son to see that it was a regular house and nothing to be scared of. We took a night guided tour where they spooked it up a little. The guide was great. He told us stories of various family members and of different items in each room. The house is very rich in history and our guide knew his history. The tour is very affordable. You can fit it into any itinerary.

Who can say they ventured in to one of the most haunted places in North American!!! $6 bucks for adults $4 for children under 12. I guess you can walk in there and be a bump on a log and say wow this is it?? But if you talk to the tour guides and ask them questions they will paint you a picture of a past that was filled with death and mayhem. The Story of Yankee Jim is a creepy one. True occurrence that happened at the hose was that my 15 year old daughter started coughing and had a heaviness in the chest. ( No lie) this is one of those occurrences that are know to happen. Anyhoo check this place out if you get a chance.

If you are really into spirits or history this place is a must visit in san diego. It being built 1857 and being a mansion back in the days is pretty fascinating. Alot of old relics donated by whaley family and 20% owned by the actual Whaley family that lived in that house. Stories are pretty interesting of how many people died around and in that house, take alot of pictures because sometimes you do see something. This visit, I did not see anything but felt it the whole tour. So its really based on your experiences, buy the ticket near the house in that tiny museum, 10.00 bucks at night and 6 bucks day tour. Again, if you are expecting it usually does not happy. I love history so this was a great place for me to visit. Parking however is around and all over, so no designated spot for this place. Do not forget to tip your tour guide!!!! This is the haunted house in America!!!
