“Very Nice Hotel, Pitty the Thinness of Walls”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2011

Just got back from a great 4 night stay in san Diego.

This hotel is very modern, clean, efficient and affordable. The Property is very well kept and the rooms and public areas are fairly spotless. Kudos to the cleaning staff.

Highspeed internet (Wireless and Wired ) is complimentary. YOu got a nice 1 shot coffee maker in the suit, nice LCD TV, and nice bathroom.

My only gripe was the thinness of the walls. And no I am not speaking about Airplane Noise (Which you do hear but you quickly learn to ignore). I meant the room to room discussions you can easily hear. I stay around 60-100 nights/year in hotels and this was easily the thinnest walls I've ever heard. It was very strange. The first night my wife and I had essentially front row seats to a lady discussing her failing marriage on the phone. Wow. clear as a bell!

Other then that, nice place to stay. Lots of restaurants nearby, Park beside the hotel, VONS grocery store a few block away.

A vehicle is a must BTW!

we (myself and early 20 year old daughters) stayed in this hotel for 11 nights over christmas and the new year.

the friendly welcome we received after a long flight from london and then a drive from los angeles to san diego set the tone for what was to be a great stay. the highest praise I can give of this hotel is that when we were out in san diego, or travelling to L.A. or overnighting in Vegas, the phrase we all used about returning to this Hotel was "let's go home".

I believe that the first and major measure of a hotel (above location and price) is cleanliness; this hotel was spotlessly clean; the bedrooms, pool area, restaurant and lobby were immaculate; the towels and bedding were crisp, clean and comfortable. we were given two interconnecting rooms on the second floor with a good view over the pool and bay. the rooms were spacious, airy and the bathrooms were a good size, with good toiletries and plenty of towels. the rooms were cleaned every day (apart from christmas day when just the bins were emptied).

the hotel is a very close to the airport (at most a five minute drive) and there is a frequent free shuttle to the airport; we used this when we over nighted in vegas and on our return we contacted the hotel to send the shuttle to collect us; this worked brilliantly and the shuttle was waiting for us as we exited the terminal. the airport is much busier than I thought and there was some noise in our bedrooms from planes taking off and landing, but no real inconvenience or disturbance

the hotel is on a modern complex, alongside a hilton,a number of restaurants, a starbucks and a massage spa ( Envy - $50 for a full hour long massage - brilliant); the only thing lacking was a convenience store on the site. however, there is a very small mini shop behind the reception in the hotel. there is loads of free parking (the internet is also free as is use of the desktop computers in the lobby where we printed our airline boarding cards). the hotel also accepted a couple of faxes on our behalf (again free of charge; I recall being charged $20 for a fax at the bellagio several years ago!)

location of the hotel is good; a couple of minutes from the airport and maybe double that to down town san diego and the midway. the drive to the fantastic zoo (where my kids fed the giraffes; available every day between 12pm and 1 pm- unmissable) took 10 - 15 mins. the price of our stay at the hotel was ok - we paid maybe a little more than we expected, but when you add on free parking ( another hotel we considered down town wanted $30 per night to park) and the free internet, the price was about right.

there are no safes in the room, but I used a safe box behind reception for the duration of our stay (although there wasn't much left to put into it towards the end of the holiday), and again this was free of charge. I don't get the impression that in the san diego we saw petty crime is a problem.

we ate in the hotel a couple of nights; the restaurant had virtually shut down other than for breakfast over the holiday season, but the restricted menu and the food we chose from it and ate in the bar area were pretty good and reasonably priced

a holiday in san diego in the winter is the epitome of cool, and the laid back friendly tone of this beautifully clean hotel means that we'll be more than happy to "come home" here again.

By far the BEST location and hotel experience for a young family like ours - - where proximately to all the great things in San Diego is important (Balboa Park, Seaport Village, etc.), but totally WITHOUT the hustle and bustle "rat race" of the city. (And close to some great restaurants - - Jimmy's - - as well as grocers like Trader Joe's).

We are definitely coming back to this hotel when the kids are old enough to enjoy Sea World and the Zoo! Hands down!

Although our hotel room was no where near ready upon or arrival (as we had selected only one of the three suites on property, the day after New Years Eve celebrations at the hotel - - late check outs, etc), our love for the extra room in the suite with our new family was key. The mini-fridge, pull out couch/family room, and great view of the water at sunrise was a welcome touch. (And we loved the little Kuereg coffee machine to get us going in the morning.)

But by far - - the ability to just get out and walk along the water, enjoy the history and patriotism of the Liberty Station naval training area, and sampling any number of the great food around the hotel was the perfect combination.

One suggestion - - our personal vehicle was key, as this location is just far enough away from key locales, that having your own transportation was a must in our book. It worked out great, as the access to N Harbor Dr, Rosecrants, and the 5 & 8 freeways was a breeze.

Also... the staff is short handed from Dec 30th - Jan 9th... so beware of such "lite" times, as we did find that some amenities were closed (or slow and cumbersome) on property. I am sure at full speed, you would never know. Thanks to the staff for stepping up where we needed them to on our first night... Joe (Manager), Evelyn (Front Desk), Jim (Restaurant), and especially Anna (Restaurant)....thanks!

There aren't enough good things I could say about the Courtyard Liberty Station! This is one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at with a great experience from check in to check out. Stayed here over Christmas 2010 and the hotel was so thoughtful that they hung stockings on everyone's door to wake up to on Christmas morning. How thoughtful is that???

Hotel is in a beautiful location on the water and has a jogging/walking trail in the back. There are restaurants within walking distance and a large park is also close by if you walk over the pedestrian bridge in the back and cross the road that takes you to the airport.

The rooms are comfortable, clean, and ours came with a balcony with a view of downtown San Diego. Rooms feature large flatscreen tvs and all the other luxuries that a modern hotel should have. The only complaint is that the internet was rather slow.

The lobby is clean and beautiful with fresh coffee, cranberry juice, water, and/or coconut water available to guests throughout the day. Outside is a fireplace on a nice patio that you can lounge around along with a fire pit that I never saw turned on. If you would rather stay inside, the other side of the fireplace faces a cozy indoor sitting area near the lobby.

The zoo, Cabrillo Park, Old Town, and other San Diego attractions are a short drive away...and the parking is FREE!

With a friendly staff, beautiful location, and comfortable accommodations, the Courtyard by Marriott Liberty Station is one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in.

Great hotel. Location is fantastic. Nice area. Every person we came in contact with that worked here was helpful, friendly and just genuinely nice. Hotel is convenient to Airport, Sea World, Pacific Beach, Downtown. Good buffet breakfast at a reasonable price with omelets and waffles made to order. Free Starbucks coffee all day in the lobby area. Quiet hotel. Although close to Airport, only really heard airplanes during day. When we went to sleep we didn't hear planes at all. Park nearby. Definitely recommend this place to stay when visiting San Diego.

Reserved room for a pre-cruise stay after seeing great recommendations on Trip Advisor
Hotel is located in new development 5 minutes from airport. Yes, it is a beautiful , well run hotel situated in a park-like area on the Bay. However, it is far, far from anything you might want to do in San Diego. No public transportation near-by It is a $20-$40cab ride to any San Diego attraction. Several restaurants in area were empty and I walked 10 blocks through two school zones to find a grocery store. If I had a car, it would a perfect stay, buy without your own transportation, you are fairly well isolated.

The hotel was able to check us in early... The moment we walked into the room we were happy. Much better deal than the Marriott gas lamp. The beds were foam and absolutely perfect. I agree the coffee maker was a nice change from the not so great mini coffee makers others have, but the beauty was in the comforts. Great for a family of four with two little kids. highly recommend.
