“For Convention Hotel, Top-Tier Choice”
Reviewed August 11, 2013

Usually can expect crappy service and general performance at convention hotel. Not here. The staff were courteous and helpful. The food (especially seafood and breakfast buffet) was surprisingly good (try black cod and seafood boil for dinner). The room was clean and quiet. The beds were a bit soft for my taste, but others seemed fine with them. The spa was very nice... free for Hilton Gold and Diamond members. The location near Gaslamp quarter, public transportation, baseball field, and harbor was superior. I would choose it again when in the area.

Room Tip: all higher floors (20 and up) have nice city or harbor view.

we stayed here at the end of our vacation, glad we did. Its a beautiful Hotel located in the heart of SD right at the Gaslamp district, 5 min walk. Its right on the Bayfront overlooking the Bay in every direction. The Hotel is new, modern and very well maintained. Its noticeable that the place is run by a passionate team with a fine eye for detail. There are many little things which just show how much they care and want to make your stay top notch, take how they serve the salads at the Pool, or the "Bucket of Beer", all just very good. The Pool is a little small for the size of the place, but is very nice, has a great Pool bar. Overall a very nice Hotel indeed.

Room Tip: Book a room with view of the Bay, really nice views during the day and night.

It's a good hotel but they need to provide free internet for what it costs. It's good overall. I think the price would suggest that there is free internet but there is not. I'm writing this and it's not 200 characters yet, what the hell, why does it have to be 200 characters?

Stayed on business. The hotels is a short walk from the Convention Centre. The hotel's interior is well designed but it felt very corporate. My room was overlooking a shipping container storage area - not a view one would want of wake up to. I had to endure a 45 minute wait to be seated for breakfast and when I was finally offered the seat, literally half of the dished in the buffet were empty. Not a good start of a busy working day. The restaurant was busy and I had to ask for juice and coffee more than once. Due to an early start the following days, the buffet was stocked yet still I had to attract the waiter's attention to get a drink and a bill. At some point I decided to had breakfast somewhere else, as to me it was not worth spending $27+tips on this experience.
The pool area is nice with a couple of hot tubs and a small area for children. I does get busy though so get there early.
Generally, it felt that the staff were to busy to care for any guest in particular and I consider my stay as poor value of money. The hotel charges $13.95 per device per day, unless you previously spent enough with Hilton to be honoured to join their loyalty scheme at the right level. For someone travelling on business it increases the cost of the trip and very inconvenient.

We stayed 2Queen standard room and it was more than what we expected overall. When we checked in at 10pm restaurant on the 1st floor Vela was closed already so we ordered room service instead. It turned out one of the best salad I've ever ordered!

Pool has kiddy small slide, walk way along the water was nice. Room wasn't that small for the family of 4.

Front desk and bell service was very helpful. Definitely come back.

Stayed at the Hilton Bayfront San Diego in July, 2013 for a business meeting. Fairly new hotel, built within last 4 or 5 years. Room was clean, efficient and had a decent view of the Coronado bridge and the huge Dole shipping port.

Starbucks in basement, as well as a FOX Sports Bar and Grill. Used both and both were fine.

Within close walking distance of Padres baseball stadium. Also right on bay front with large walkway all along bay front.

Nice place, decent rates, new and clean.

Room Tip: No ideas for picking best rooms. Hotel charges different rates based upon view.

Very nice room with excellent wi-fi connectivity and good working space. Plenty of electrical outlets. Comfortable bed. Was asked if I wanted to upgrade to a room with a view and declined, but ended up with a decent view anyway. Located adjacent to the convention center and across from Petco Park (baseball stadium) and Gaslamp district.
Due to the high prices (room, food, wi-fi, etc) I personally wouldn't stay here for a vacation, but the conference I attended was at the hotel.
The most negative aspect was the SPAM voice mail from the 'vacation coordinator' trying to sell vacation packages. When you pay +/- $250 per night you shouldn't have to put up with marketing SPAM.
