College Hill Pizza Pub is a new, fun option a short walk from the Washburn University Campus. I’ve described it to friends as “pizza meets salad bar” in that you get to walk down the line starting with a $5 personal pan and have staff add any (and I mean ANY) sauces and toppings to your pizza for a bit more. It’s a good value and perfect for a group because everyone gets exactly what they want quickly. It’s easy to make a healthy pizza (marinara sauce, grilled chicken, green peppers, spinach…) something unhealthy but amazing (nacho cheese sauce, hamburger, bacon, tortilla chips, onion…) or really unique (chorizo sauce, lamb, feta cheese…). A basic selection of wine and beer is available with the occasional mixed drink on special. It’s small and usually crowded during peak times but don’t worry if there’s not a table free when you come in, they turn over quickly. The staff is super friendly and always willing to suggest something tasty if you’re overwhelmed by the choices. They always encourage people to add bacon. I think they REALLY like bacon there. Anyway, atmosphere is clean and energetic, great images from Washburn University on the walls. Televisions by each table. Open late. Always a good time.
