The capital building updates are in progress.

I could not believe the difference in the structure! They have renovated the building to its original beauty (and are still working on more renovations).

There is also a library on site with books you will not find anywhere else.

I would recommend this as a stop to see amazing murals, fine architecture and wonderful artistic elements.

There is a "find and seek" worksheet for younger children (or adults who like that sort of thing).

These people take pride in their capitol building and with good reason. Parts were closed for renovation, but the rest was accessible and a model for other states to emulate.

Yeah, they are working on the exterior of the building. So what. The really good part is the interior of the building which is 100 percent in order. We took the guided tour and had a really good time. Having done quite a few capitol tours, this one was similar to the others. A little history, a little art, yada yada yada. The tour is free. Take it. Be sure to park for free in the underground garage which is accessed fro 8th Street on the north side of the building.

This was a last minute stop, and I didn't check out Trip Advisor beforehand. I wish I had! The building is under renovation - it is surrounded by scaffolding. The grounds showed the signs of heavy construction. We arrived after 5, so couldn't go inside.

Downtown Topeka is very quint! Nice clean area with lots of shops and restaurant.
