“Best Pies in Topeka”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

Every time I go there, I tell myself I'm going to try something new. And every time, I order the same meal: the Turkey Delight sandwich. Real sliced turkey, flavorful tomato (even in December!), great non-greasy bacon, and molten cheese on grilled bread - doesn't begin to describe how surprisingly delicious this sandwich is. My dining companions have had other fare - pork tenderloin sandwich, hot open-faced beef with mashed potatoes and gravy, among others - and all have pronounced it delicious. But the standout is the pies. Many varieties every day. Lovely crust (and I am a pretty severe crust critic), great fillings. The cherry crumb is a favorite, as is the blackberry and the German chocolate pie. Chocolate pie is OK, not normally my thing, but the German chocolate pie is a must-try. This is a down-home kind of place, small, not big on shiny decor, but it's a jewel!

“Food is reasonably good - but the pies are great!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2012

Very small neighborhood diner in downtown North Topeka. Usual menu item such as meatloaf, open-face sandwiches, etc that you expect in a diner. However, they usually have 15-20 different freshly-baked pies that are excellent! Always crowded over the lunch hour.

“What a hidden gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2012

Small and quaint in north Topeka, this is a great little diner. While it only holds maybe 20 people max, the home cooking is plentiful and very tasty. Be sure to save room for pie - I think they have about 40 different varieties! Located in downtown north Topeka near antique stores, it is a wonderful spot for breakfast and lunch/dinner. Great food, good service, good value.

“Surprise!Address is 844 N. Kansas Ave”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2012

I had the hot turkey sandwich and the turkey was REAL turkey breast. Good!
My husband had the hot beef and thought the meat was a little tough.
Lots of locals eat here, which is a recommendation of sorts. They wouldn't crowd in if they didn't like the food. Or maybe it was the large variety of homemade pies. I was too full to try one, but they looked very good! Save room for dessert!
