This is were Elvis ate and locals love it . Lunch time is best but it is hard to find a parking space. Greasy cheeseburgers , tater tots and some fine milkshakes. You can even sit in Elvis's both where he sat. It is cheap and good diner food.

So my family knew that Elvis ate here during his lunch break so we decided to come here and have lunch, we sat at the Elvis booth which was great! It's an old diner just after the Great Depression. When Elvis was here he ordered the cheese burger, so as a very young 20 year old Elvis fan I ordered the cheese burger, the lady serving us was so pleasant! She took a picture of my whole family in the Elvis booth and she gave us the guest book and let us sign it She told me that our best seller, with people calling the cheese burger all different names, and is the best seller. Typical burger, the menus are on the wall which I thought was really cool. The diner was decorated with Elvis pictures, including Elvis eating at the Elvis booth. You guys should stop by for a bite to eat!

There is pictorial evidence that Elvis did indeed eat here. Now, the King of Rock & Roll was not known for his epicurean tastes. The food gets fairly low marks, but the place IS worth a stop while in Tupelo. The folks there are super friendly, and the old place has quite a bit of character (and characters!). So, eat lunch somewhere else, but stop by & grab an ice cream cone or a drink and enjoy the time capsule that is Johnnie's Drive In.

I've ate at Johnnie's twice and I love it! This small country diner has been around since the 1940's and Elvis ate her numerous times. The diner is very small and there are maybe only 10 booths, and all the food is basic & made to order. The food is what you would get from your Grandmother if she made you a sandwich, they have ham, chicken salad, turkey, and pimento cheese. All the food is very cheap with prices between $2 - $7. The diner has a small town feel and locals love it. The waitstaff is very friendly and treat you like family! They have a both marked as Elvis' favorite booth and above it hangs photos of Elvis in Tupelo. The booth seats are supposedly original which is beyond cool! If you're an Elvis fan and looking at Elvis related sites you must eat at Johnnie's!
