Living in Chicago, I know what big city prices look like. However, I was a bit surprised to find a lack of affordable hotels when booking a trip to Boston this spring. That said, I really liked this hotel. Since I am someone who isn't looking for the lap of luxury when traveling, as I spend most of my time out on the town, this place was perfect. It has a great location, friendly staff, and a lot of character. I'll book the Buckminster again when returning to Boston.

We spent a week at the hotel Buckminster. Great location, very close to the subway station, makes it easy to use for pleasure and business. Spacious room, friendly staff, good continental breakfast included. If you can book a room not facing the street. It did not bother us much, because traffic was low at night and we got up early to visit the city, but if you sensible to noise it could be a problem having a room like ours right on the street.

Room Tip: Rooms facing on internal court are quieter

We spent four nghts at this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful and the reception area was ok but the rest of the hotel was in need of modernisation. Our room had all the facilities you would need but the furniture was worn and dated and the bathroom was badly in need of a facelift. The hotel is located in a busy location and the traffic noise was quite bad but we didn't really expect it to be quiet. Breakfast was continental which was basic in a very boring and dimly lit room. The breakfast could have been laid out better as it was very cramped and caused unnecessary hold-ups. Also, bit disappointed we were charged for the Wifi and no tea/coffee facilities in the room.

Price was very reasonable. Location was at Kenmore Square and many things were in walking distance. The rooms we had were perfect for our group (see note on rooms). Could have used more lighting and outlets. Bathroom was a little on the shabby side. A typical continental breakfast was included. The layout of the breakfast was awkward which led to very slow moving lines although the breakfast eating area was very adequate.

Room Tip: We had rooms 323 and 523 to accomodate 6 people. These were 2 bedroom suites which were very spacio...

We wanted to stay close to the Red Sox stadium and at the Buckminister, we did!!!! We walked to the game and back! There was also a T very close by to see the city.

Room Tip: Ask for one looking out toward the stadium!

If the internet service at this hotel was as good as the staff this would be an excellent hotel. On our first visit there was not wifi in the room and someone had to come and find a broadband outlet which was hidden behind a heavy cabinet and move the cabinet and make the connection which left my netbook poorly placed for use. On our second visit there was no internet access of any kind in the room for eight hours which was a great inconvenience. It internet access is not important for you, this is a great value hotel.

The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful and we took the lift to our 6th floor room after a quick and painless check in. We had a view of the other side of the hotel, rather than the street, which we were thankful for as it was very busy outside. The room itself was of a reasonable size, furniture a bit dated, and the marble tiled bathroom was a little tired, but it was clean and the bed comfortable. The room safe wasn't working but the front desk sent maintenance up and within 10 mins it was fixed. Breakfast is served in the sushi/karaoke restaurant which is part of the same building. There was a good selection of fruit, cereal, breads, bagels, pastries, mini muffins, etc and coffee or a wide variety of teas. Good value for money and very close to Fenway Park if you are planning on visiting.
