“We could not have asked for better accomodations....”

Large hotel with all amenities but with small hotel attention to guests. Stayed 4 nights at Colonade on week long visit to New England. Rooms were attractive and well appointed. Desk/table next to window with many electrical outlets and good lighting perfect for laptop work. Sign up for free, "I prefer" membership online and get free wifi. Many rate plans available, so ask. We negotiated average rate of $243 including two breakfasts valued at $16.95 each beginning the day after Labor Day. Had breakfasts delivered room service for $4.00 delivery charge. Great room service...hot coffee, white table cloth, flowers and excellent food.
Hotel brasserie restaurant has excellent food. Very friendly service from front desk to doorman. Hotel located across from Prudential building, which houses shops and foodcourt. Cheesecake Factory across the street. Five Napkins burger restaurant so so. Take subway across the street or taxi ($12 or so roundtrip) to Museum of Fine Arts, a really world class museum with an interesting American Artist section. Ticket are $22 each but can be used for two days or given or shared with another couple for free. Suggest trolley tour for overview, tickets good for two days and hop on and off. Trolleys run every 5-10 minutes. Informative narration. National Park Service gives free walking tours of Freedom Trail.

I'll start with the good part: It's a very clean hotel. As for the rest of the hotel experience? Mediocre to crummy. My first bad impression: Three hotel employees, including the bell captain on duty, watched us enter the hotel while struggling with three large suitcases. None offered to assist us (the guests) until I remarked: "Some help here?". Throughout our stay, room service dishes littered the halls (I finally called the desk and asked if two trays outside our door could be picked up after being there a full day); the air conditioning did not work--we set it at 66 degrees--but since there was only one vent located in , of all places, the dresser cabinet, there was virtually no air circulating in the room; the parking garage was packed for a wedding one night so there was no room for staying guests' cars; the auto valet drove the cars at breakneck speed down the garage ramp as people walked through and, oh yeah, the desk clerk failed to correctly load the "in-and-out" swipe card used to gain entry or exit from the parking garage. Small stuff but it piles up--sort of like those room service trays. This could be a nice place but the staff needs to be managed better--especially at the hefty rate the Colonnade is charging. You've been warned.

We're sorry for your negative experience and wish to apologize for your arrival experience, the room service trays, and the parking valet and swipe card issues. There is no excuse for any of these things to occur. In particular, we strive to provide genuine and friendly service that anticipates the guest’s needs. In this case, we failed to deliver on our promise. We hope that you will contact us directly in order that we might resolve this to your satisfaction.

A very nice hotel, but lacking a wow factor. We found all staff pleasant and helpful, although we didn't use the restaurant. A large, comfortable, well equipped room, with plenty of storage, and spotlessly clean. A subway station is just outside the front door and taxis are always on standby. A sightseeing bus has a stop at the front door. A leasurely 15 minute walk will get you to Copley Square. A shopping mall is directly opposite the hotel with a food hall, and more importantly.... a "cheesecake factory".
A relaxing rooftop pool and bar are available to guests, but finding a seat can be difficult. The pool bar is small, and the waiting staff seem easily confused with orders.
I would happily return to this hotel

Room Tip: The subway is convenient and cheap, and staff are on hand to assist with ticketing machines

This hotel is second to NONE. We were greeted by an outstanding doorman. All of the staff attended to us like I've never seen before. And the hotel is gorgeous. I thought the decor "made" the hotel. I now know service makes the hotel.

2 reasons why this hotel is more like a Holiday Inn than a Sheraton/Hilton type hotel:

#1 no valet parking and when i leave i have to pack my own bags in adjacent lot. If you have a family as i do, this is a pain.

#2 Checked in on last Friday of August. Booked room 1 month in advance. Room was described to be 350 sq ft as per hotel website. the actual room was more like 200sq ft. Although manager helped to move us into a 350 sq ft room, his comment was that some rooms are percieved smaller. Not sure what he meant by that but it irritated me because it puts onus on client. I challenge him to measure the two rooms, if the variance is not as i described then let me eat humble pie.

Room Tip: insist on city view room as they are 350sq ft

We're sorry you didn't feel our hotel measured up to your expectations. While we would not compare our hotel to any of the chain hotels that you mentioned, we do believe they are all fine hotels in their own right. The hotel’s on-site parking lot is not adjacent to the hotel but within the hotel itself. The hotel’s parking garage is conveniently located on floors 2-3-4 and guests may use their key card for in-out privileges. While we do have valet parking available, our guest feedback over the years has continued to support that most of our guests prefer the self park option. Guests appreciate the accessibility to their vehicle and that there is no wait.

While not all of our guest rooms are exactly the same size, the physical shape of the room does impact the perception of size. We do not have a guest room in our hotel that is 200 sq. ft. However, we are happy that our staff was able to move you to a guest room that was satisfactory.

nice older, highly refurbished hotel. Upscale, in Backbay area. Across from Pru, near Copley Square, Newbury St, awesome roomtop pool, nice french restaurant, subway entrance right in front of hotel; safe enough for teenagers to go across street and shop in Prudential bldg. Very clean, experienced staff. Stayed 6 yrs in a row

The service at this Hotel is excelent and wonderful. The employees shows great hospitality. Would defintely recommend this Hotel for others to stay. And whenever in area again will be my first choice pick. The rooms with the front view are great you can see most everything from the front. The rooms are clean on a daily base, that's what I love about it the most.
