“Quiet hotel in the heart of it all”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2013

I was only at Harborside Inn for one night. The room was pricey for literally only showering and sleeping but the location was hard to beat. And much less than the large chain hotel at the harbor. Walking distance to absolutely everything but bring comfortable shoes! Many restaurant and bar options in the area too. The Harborside Inn is updating their own lounge and that was the real miss in my stay was a place to unwind and have a nightcap in my own safe hotel. The biggest positive was that I was allowed to check into my room at 9:30 a.m.! No other hotel ever does that and I think it speaks to the local vibe of the hotel.

Great location in a great city. Walk to great tourist spots...North End, Quincy Market. T station right outside. Very convenient. And they are putting finishing touches on a new bar in the hotel. This property has free wifi, and coffee available at all times in the lobby. Very nice!

The Harborside Inn is in a fanatastic location. Surrounded by bars, and spitting distance from everything a tourist has come to see in Boston. The disappointing thing about the hotel is its tootal lack of atmosphere. It seems dull, almost dead. The staff are helpful enough but they don't really make you feel that welcome and fail to set the place alight. For example, we arrived in the pouring rain, I asked at reception for an umbrella - 'sorry, we don't have any' was the reply. No help, no trolley and just a feeling that we were yet another couple of guests.

The rooms are comfortable and clean. The room service is sporadic. If you miss the chambermaid/man, theyr'e not coming back later.

The food of course is non existent until they open a refurbished bar and restaurant.

All in all, I'd not go back simply because there are many other choices and on previous visits I've just been made to feel far more welcome.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a window. The internal rooms are a bit claustrophobic.

The location is fantastic, close to the Fanueil Hall area. We walked to almost everywhere that we wanted to visit.

If you are travelling from Logan airport it is only two stops on the 'T' Blue line after a short initial bus ride from the airport terminal (included in the price of a 'T' ticket). The 'T' Aquarium stop is right opposite the hotel and if you take the elevator from the platform it brings you literally to the hotel door (I wish we had known that and avoided 3 escalators with our bags).

The hotel furnishing reflects the building's industrial heritage, but is still homely and a refreshing change from corporate chains. The room and bathroom fittings were all very good quality. Our bathroom had no bath, but a roomy shower more than made up for this.

We opted for a room over the street. Although there was some traffic noise, it did not disturb us in our room on the 7th floor once the windows were closed (there is air con). I enjoyed being able to see out to the street and the park area beyond.

The hotel had some nice complementary touches; tea and coffee in the lobby, wi-fi in all rooms, computers and printer in the lobby and a DK Eyewitness Top 10 Boston guide for use while staying (charged if lost or taken).

The hotel is adding a bar area to the lobby which I believe will include a Starbucks for those so inclined. It should be open later in May 2013.

The staff were helpful and provided good restaurant recommendations.

I find it hard to think of anything negative about the hotel or any suggestions for improvements.

Room Tip: The atrium rooms are quieter, but have no view.

This was my third time in 4 years staying at the Harborside. The hotel is located so conveniently to Quincy Market, North End, Waterfront, and pretty much any other touristy spot you may want to see. It's great that you can walk every where, but the T-station is right outside the door and cabs are constantly driving past.
The hotel is small and quiet. The new renovations are awesome. Rooms are very clean. We stayed in a cabin room downstairs this time. It has no windows which we weren't sure about, but the price was right (a lot cheeper compared to other hotels in the area) and honestly all you are doing in the room is sleeping. Our room lacked a hotel book which would have been nice when looking for a place to eat. The brand new sleek bathroom, extra large TV and fridge are great bonuses.
I am very excited that they are opening a lounge in the lobby. Would make it easy for a late night drink or early breakfast. Thought this was the one thing lacking every time I have been there. Hopefully they are addressing the extra noise it will bring since there are atrium rooms.
Definitely planning on staying here again. Such a great deal for the location!!

We thought the Harborside Inn was a great find. We loved the location – steps from Quincy Market/Fanueil Hall (even though we don’t enjoy touristy areas) but it was our first time in Boston so we took it all in. T Station is right outside the door but we walked everywhere because we could – North End, Beacon Hill, Back Bay, Bay Village, just a great location to see it all. And the wharf offers a lot of options for food and exploring and is directly across the street. We had dinner at Legal Seafood and brunch at Joes American Bar and Grill. The latter was the more affordable of the 2.
We arrived early and were able to early check-in right away, a very nice bonus. Our room was incredibly quiet even though we were on the 2nd floor, near the elevator, and overlooked the Atrium. Very clean, simple and comfortable. However, the noise comfort may change once the Lounge opens downstairs so hopefully the Harborside is addressing those privacy issues.
Other cons are *the lack of nearby inexpensive (diner-like) breakfasts on the weekends. The in-room book should list the days of operation for the restaurants they recommend. We were surprised when we saw that Nunzios was closed on Saturday. There’s a convenience store on the corner to the left but we wanted a square meal to start our day. We ended up at Anthony’s Cafe, thanks to a local recommendation; *Starbucks Coffee is served in the lobby only in almost espresso-sized cups with only half-n-half available as a dairy option; *a Lounge is opening in the Lobby and that might cause sound issues for the lower floor Atrium rooms. Hopefully the Harborside is addressing those issues.
Other than those few trivial cons we truly enjoyed our stay. It’s also very easy to catch a cab from the Hotel - took about 15 seconds. They apparently loop around. I would definitely recommend the Harborside Inn at Boston as a very comfortable, convenient and enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Location is fantastic but be aware that there aren't many amenities - no gym, no pool, ice is i...

We stayed here one night and the room was great for the price we paid. The room is a little small but its new and clean. Hotel is close to bars and restaurants which was great .
They are opening a lounge in the lobby area ( it wasn't open when we stayed) and once it does this place will be a home run for the price !!
